Ontario reports10,436 new Covid cases … and new CDC isolation guidelines raise concerns

Ontario sets new record COVID-19 case count despite test scarcity with 10,436 new cases

Experts question, criticize new CDC guidance to shorten COVID-19 isolation

U.S. health officials’ decision to shorten the recommended COVID-19 isolation and quarantine period from 10 days to five is drawing criticism from some medical experts and could create confusion among many Americans.

To the dismay of some authorities, the new guidelines allow people to leave isolation without getting tested to see if they are still infectious.

China’s disastrous one-child policy is finally starting to kick in

If you’re not familiar with Daniel Greenfield, who writes at FrontPage Magazine and at his own site, I am not exaggerating when I say you’re missing one of the most astute thinkers on the internet.  Most recently, he’s turned his gimlet eye on the terrible effect on China of the one-child policy, when combined with urban affluence and nascent feminism.

I’ve long known that China’s one-child policy, which resulted in the abortion of up to 40 million female babies, was going to have far-reaching consequences.  My assumption was that women would become more valuable and be better treated, but I didn’t realize that their increased value might spell the beginning of the end of the Communist Party.

How Defund the Police backfired

After a spike in crime, progressive cities are reversing cuts

Over the last two decades, progressives have established a new consensus on crime. Nonviolent felonies like shoplifting and drug possession should be reclassified as misdemeanours. Cities should defund the police and spend the money on nurses, psychologists and social workers instead. Offenders should have minimal involvement with the justice system — and be kept out of jail wherever possible.

Racist School Board Votes to Segregate Minority Teachers, Pay People Less Based on Skin Color

Racism and segregation are back!

The Mankato, Minn. school board has decided that racism is okay after all. The board voted unanimously to pay additional stipends to teachers who aren’t white. They also voted to segregate teachers by race, though they prefer to call it “placing American Indian educators at sites with other American Indian educators and educators of color at sites with other educators of color.”

The revolt against modernity

In 2021, the regressive misanthropy of green politics became crystal clear.

I mainly feel sorry for those who still labour under the delusion that environmentalism is a radical worldview. Those who believe that warning of End Times as a consequence of ruthless capitalist excess is a socialist position. Those who think that wringing one’s hands over the grotesque ‘footprint’ marauding humankind has left on this allegedly once-pristine planet is a good way to indict the globalist elites.

As Many as 1 in 3 Afghan Refugee Women at U.S. Bases are Pregnant

Despite the denials, statistics make the existence of child brides obvious.

When Biden’s Afghanistan retreat first brought tens of thousands of Afghans to the United States without any visas or vetting, officials at Fort McCoy warned about numerous incidents of Afghan child brides. Democrats and senior military officials have denied these allegations, but shocking new statistics out of Fort McCoy raise new questions of just how pervasive this is.

SJW fatigue: Why anime & manga are conquering the West

In the West vs. East battle of entertainment industries, manga, anime and Korean dramas are steadily gaining ground

Be it films or comics, audiences seem to be growing tired of what the Western entertainment industry has to offer and many are turning their attention to the East.

For a long time, Hollywood and the American comic book industry have been seen as international media behemoths. It used to be that they never even faced any serious competition. But lately, they seem to be losing that grasp. The last decade of film and comics has seen a sharp decline in quality. And while, of course, there have been some HUGE successes like Marvel’s MCU films, raking in billions of dollars, nevertheless, it seems evident that audiences are growing tired of the same old formulas being rehashed over and over again.

Since cutting the cable and subbing to a couple of Streaming platforms I have had the chance to watch fare such as “Squid Game” which I enjoyed and also dull witted PC pap like “Designated Survivor.” The latter was so bad I could not finish it.

Why China Got Away With It

It gave the world a deadly virus and took no responsibility for it — and the world shrugged it off.

What can you say about a country that trashed the planet Earth with a deadly virus? That it knew what it was doing?

China has gotten away with it: businesses and industries destroyed or damaged; massive recession and unemployment; medical systems strained to the point of collapse; countries rent asunder by populism; transport systems in disarray; interruption of children’s education and development; loss of confidence in governments; rising mental illness, anger, and civil disobedience; vulnerability of the elderly and those with underlying conditions; and nearly twice as many American dead than in World War II. The full effects of COVID-19 and its variants are yet to be known.

What to Do About a Government That’s Always Watching Us

Two University of Maryland professors recently announced they developed a software program called “Geneva” that can protect people from the pervasive surveillance of their online activities by repressive governments like the People’s Republic of China. This will help Chinese citizens, but it is no solution for them. China has created unprecedented surveillance networks in which cameras, facial recognition and artificial intelligence overseeing every communication and commercial transaction work together to create a startlingly clear portrait of more than 1 billion individuals in real time.

Ontario’s upcoming provincial election holds many uncertainties

Ontario’s provincial election is rapidly approaching and while campaigning has already gotten well underway, the process itself comes with several unknowns.

The issues facing Ontario voters on June 2, 2022, will be similar to other elections before it. The state of the economy, handling climate change, and tackling housing affordability are all issues expected to get a lot of airtime. But like all things in the world these days, the COVID-19 pandemic and recovering from it is destined to overshadow many issues. And potentially, it may affect how the campaigns themselves function.

No one normal is talking about climate change.
