Pickering teen who butchered retired kindergarten teacher gets 10-year maximum youth sentence

The boy who killed 83-year-old Pickering resident Eleanor Doney in her front yard as she was raking leaves has been given the maximum youth sentence for first-degree murder.

On Wednesday, Superior Court Justice Lisa Wannamaker ruled that the 15-year-old — who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) — would receive some credit for the more than 13 months he spent in pre-sentence detention, ordering he spend an additional five years in a youth facility receiving intensive programming and counselling.

Following that, he will be released back into the community under supervision for another four years

Every time I write one of these “Cuba Falling” articles, I feel like I need to end the “Cuba Falling” part with a question mark. I’m getting frustrated with the lack of movement, and I can’t help but wonder if we’re spread a little too thin with Iran. It’s time to finish that job and quit playing around with those animals. Cuba is becoming an even bigger hellhole than it already was. The people are starving. They have no power. It’s also clear at this point that the regime is a threat to our national security. It apparently has high-capability Iranian and/or Russian drones, and it is colluding with everyone on the radical left, from Democrat members of Congress to Code Pink, and I’d call all of that a very serious problem for the United States.

US Congress takes next step to make daylight saving time permanent

The US House of Representatives has voted to make daylight saving time permanent by passing the Sunshine Protection Act on Tuesday.

With a 308-117 vote, members of both parties approved the bill, which would remove the need for Americans to change their clocks twice a year and put the US under time currently observed between March and November – known as permanent standard time.

The scenes outside the window of the train are breathtaking. A wall of flame engulfs the treeline just feet away from tracks.

There is one detail from the Boxing Day murder of Jane Creba in Toronto that has stayed fresh in my mind for more than 20 years: The shooter, according to various witnesses, raised his gun to eye level, and then cocked it to the side before firing.

It’s noteworthy because it’s so stupid; you can know nothing about guns and still understand that it’s probably the worst way to take a shot. You only do it because you want to look cool – because you think you’re a bona fide gangster, instead of a loser who decided to take his beef with a rival gang to a busy area of Toronto while shoppers tried to enjoy their day.

Stockpile food in case of Russian cyber attack, No 10 to tell public

The public will be told to stock up on food and water in case of a Russian cyber attack under new plans to prepare the country for conflict.

Later this year, ministers will launch a public information campaign to advise households on how to prepare for emergencies, including creating a stockpile of food, medicines and basic survival tools.

It comes amid rising concerns of a Russian attack on a Nato country and near-constant cyber attacks on the UK’s critical national infrastructure.
