Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont resigns from Conservative caucus to join the Liberals

Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont resigned from the Conservative caucus Tuesday — and he’s joining the Liberals.

In a statement disseminated by the Liberal Party, d’Entremont said he decided to leave the Conservatives after “serious consideration and thoughtful conversations with constituents.”

“I came to a clear conclusion: there is a better path forward for our country — and a better path forward for Acadie-Annapolis,” he said.

After Liberals table a budget with few surprises, all eyes turn to the opposition parties

OTTAWA — After 18 months without a budget, the minority Liberals tabled a plan containing nearly $126 billion in new spending and $60 billion in savings, which they hope will convince at least one opposition party to prevent an early election.

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne tabled his first budget in the House of Commons shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, for what he said is a “true generational shift” in reaction to the new global economic landscape under U.S. President Donald Trump.

Some highlights …

Federal budget breakdown: Mark Carney’s first budget, by the numbers

OTTAWA — Billed as a once-in-a-generation plan to fortify Canada for a wobbly and uncertain global economy, the federal government’s new budget devotes tens of billions of dollars in new spending to national defence, infrastructure and more.

This budget is a Trump survival plan. Here are the highlights

Donald Trump doesn’t appear by name in the 2025 federal budget, even if his One Big Beautiful Bill does get a mention, but the U.S. President has left his mark all over the 493-page document.
From the opening words, “The world is changing,” the Carney government’s first budget is a response to Mr. Trump’s trade war and the threat to Canada’s economy. That means ramped-up defence spending, measures to make Canadian businesses more competitive and billions in new investment around trade diversification.

“Overrun”: Washington’s Grim Verdict on Canada’s CCP Infiltration Crisis

OTTAWA — In his striking conclusion to Under Assault, former national-security analyst Dennis Molinaro reveals that U.S. government sources have privately described Canada as “overrun” with Chinese influence — the ultimate consequence of a fifty-year pattern, begun under Pierre Trudeau and seemingly accelerated by his son, of engaging the Chinese Communist Party on its own terms and to the detriment of Canadian sovereignty.

It’s a finding that resonates sharply as Justin Trudeau’s successor, Prime Minister Mark Carney renews deeper ties with Beijing amid Washington’s intensifying, security-driven tariff pressure on its allies.

The Armed Awakening of America’s Radical Left

Liberal Left Assassins

Unless you live under a rock — or teach gender studies — you won’t be surprised to find that people with strong left-leaning political attitudes score far higher on traits like neuroticism and psychopathy than many of their conservative counterparts. These psychological signatures — emotional volatility, heightened threat sensitivity, and explosive aggression — are more pronounced the further left you go. Add to that the recent murder of Charlie Kirk, the attempts on Donald Trump’s life, and a surge in gun purchases by self-styled progressive activists, and the picture turns even darker.

What worries me most about Mamdani

ZOHRAN MAMDANI, the self-described “democratic socialist” poised to become New York’s next mayor, doesn’t talk much about Israel on the campaign trail. He focuses on housing, policing, and wages – the city’s pressing local issues. Yet his long record of fervent anti-Zionist activism hangs in the air – troubling less for what it reveals about his platform than for what it reveals about the political culture that now embraces him.

Franco Terrazzano: To fix the CRA, the government must simplify the tax code

When the pitcher, batter, catcher, umpires and video-replay officials all have no idea what the call should be, that means it’s time to fix the rule book.

The Auditor General’s report on Canada Revenue Agency call centres shows that taxpayers don’t understand what’s going on and neither do the tax collectors because the rules are impossibly complex. The government needs to change the rule book by simplifying the tax code.

How Political Leaders Are Fast-Tracking the Islamification of Europe

Manchester, England, October 2, 2025: In the most violent act of antisemitic hatred Britain has seen in years, a Muslim man rams a car into a group of Jews on a sidewalk in front of a synagogue, exits the vehicle and begins stabbing other Jews. He is shot by the police. Two Jews are killed, one by the murderer and another who was shot accidentally by police.

Antisemitic violence has become deeply entrenched in the country. Since Hamas’s jihadist massacre of October 7, 2023, in Israel, it has increased considerably.

Immigration cuts leave Ukrainians, Hong Kongers in Canada with little chance of permanent residence

Ukraine anti-corruption protest

When Russian bombs and missiles started raining down on Kyiv, all Oleh Chernenko and his wife could think of was getting their four children to somewhere safe. Now, three years later, their kids are still their priority.

After making an escape out of Ukraine to the Czech Republic in a minivan with a big sign reading “CHILDREN” on the windshield, the family eventually flew to Toronto in November 2022 under Ottawa’s emergency travel program for Ukrainians fleeing the war.

What was supposed to be a temporary stay has turned into indefinite displacement in Canada, with no end in sight to the conflict and little prospects of acquiring permanent residence here.

Over 100K of Ukraine fighting age males have fled since Zelensky eased border restrictions a couple of months ago.

Report: Half of Migrant Households Get Welfare Via US-Born Children

According to a report, nearly half of non-citizens’ homes with children rely on some form of welfare — especially Food Stamps and WIC — despite claims by liberals that migrants don’t use government assistance programs.

The report by the Center for Immigration Studies shows that 47 percent of non-citizen homes with children under six years of age are on Food Stamps and WIC assistance programs.

This Looks Like the Smoking Gun in the Case Against James Comey

James Comey’s legal troubles just got a whole lot worse.

In September, James Comey was indicted on charges of making false statements and obstruction of justice. Comey claims he’s the victim of malicious prosecution, and Democrats are out in full force claiming that this is part of Trump’s “revenge,” but newly filed evidence that Just the News obtained is quite damning. Prosecutors have revealed what looks like a smoking gun: Comey’s own words showing that he wasn’t merely aware his top aides were leaking to the press; he was actively congratulating them for it.
