Poilievre: Carney should state what ’leverage’ Canada has in trade talks

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says Prime Minister Mark Carney should tell Canadians what leverage the country has over the United States in coming trade negotiations.

In an interview with The Canadian Press on Friday, Carney rejected the characterization of energy and critical minerals as “leverage” in negotiations to renew the Canada-United States-Mexico trade agreement.

US denies Iran struck a military vessel transiting Strait of Hormuz

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The U.S. military on Monday denied claims that Iran struck a Navy vessel as U.S. forces now offer to guide commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, where hundreds have been stuck since the Iran war began. Tehran over the past two months has attacked some vessels and blocked others that don’t receive its authorization.

The U.S. military’s Central Command also said two American-flagged merchant ships have “successfully transited through the Strait of Hormuz” and that that Navy guided-missile destroyers in the Persian Gulf are helping to restore commercial shipping traffic.

Temporary foreign worker permits cost taxpayers millions as Ottawa fails to recover fees

Temporary foreign worker permits cost taxpayers millions as Ottawa fails to recover fees

Federal records show Ottawa continues to lose millions administering migrant worker permits, with taxpayers covering the shortfall as program fees fail to keep pace with rising costs.

Figures tabled in Parliament reveal the Department of Employment spent $177.7 million last year processing 137,118 permits under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, while collecting just $146.5 million in fees — leaving a $31.2 million gap.

Everything is a scam in Canada now.

The mystery of the missing scientists linked to top-secret Nasa research

The mystery of the missing scientists linked to top-secret Nasa research

It sounds like the plot for an episode of The X-Files: at least 10 scientists – and counting – who all supposedly had access to sensitive US government research are dead or missing under mysterious circumstances.

Four worked for Nasa; three of them were even on the same team. Two had worked together at the same national laboratory in New Mexico. Another – a former senior air force research engineer who left his home on Feb 27 and hasn’t been seen since – had been involved in UFO research after his retirement.

Chris Selley: Canada’s new, unearned decadence

Donald Trump has hatched many threats to Canada’s prosperity over the years, both short-term and long. One of the greatest long-term threats, however, is largely of our own device: the threat that when Trump finally leaves, Canada will slump back into its favourite proverbial easy chair at the cottage (as if anyone can afford to buy a cottage nowadays) and relax.

“Cancel the military spending. Probably no need for that LNG pipeline. Normal service has resumed.”

Inside Mexican town where girls are ‘sold from moment they’re born’

Inside Mexican town where girls are ‘sold from moment they’re born’

The pimp sat on a plastic chair in a small room off a dark courtyard as the music from the town’s spring festival blared from outside. He was sweating. This was the first time he had told anyone what had happened here and he was nervous.

He started haltingly. Telling the story of Tenancingo, the small town that is a nerve centre of Mexico’s sex trafficking industry, is dangerous. The padrotes, or pimps, who who have been known to run the town for decades, making millions from selling women and girls across Mexico and the United States, could target anyone who speaks out.

PM Carney announces $270M in military aid for Ukraine

Canada is sending more military aid to Ukraine as it continues to defend itself against Russia.

Prime Minister Mark Carney made the announcement at the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, Armenia, on Monday.

Carney says Canada will contribute about $270 million toward critical military capabilities, drawn from NATO’s prioritized list of needs for Ukraine.

The funding adds to more than $25 billion Canada has already committed to supporting Ukraine since Russia launched its full‑scale invasion in 2022.

Hey Grok! How many fighting aged men & women have fled the Ukraine or are otherwise dodging the military draft since the start of hostilities with Russia? What is the current size of the Ukraine armed forces compared to those who have avoided the draft?

“Approximately 540,000 conscription-age (military-age) Ukrainian men have fled the country since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022, while roughly 2 million more (mostly men) are currently evading or wanted for draft-related violations inside Ukraine.”

Read the whole thing. Ukraine is the new Forever War scam.

We fund a war in Ukraine that many of its own citizens refuse to fight. A war where draft evaders (2.5 Million) outnumber official armed forces numbers (900,000).

Zelensky will have a shelf life similar to Afghanistan’s Ashraf Ghani the minute the money stops until then the grift will buy him time.

Is there a collective security benefit to wearing Putin’s army down? Probably, but that means Ukraine is defending Euro states with their own dubious commitment to self defense.

Do Ukrainians appreciate being cannon fodder for that purpose? Probably not.

1 in 10 Canadian citizens live in poverty. Carney has no business swanning about Europe doling out cash to burnish his bona fides as Captain Euroguy.

Carney knows a good grift when he sees one.

Millions of Syrians Are Returning Home—but Not From Germany

Millions of Syrians Are Returning Home—but Not From Germany

Millions of Syrians are returning home—but of the more than 900,000 living in Germany, very few have shown an interest in leaving, official figures show.

According to figures from the UN’s refugee agency UNHCR, reported by Welt, over 1.6 million Syrian refugees have returned since Bashar al-Assad’s regime was toppled in December 2024, most of them from neighboring countries: 634,000 from Turkey; 621,000 from Lebanon; and 284,000 from Jordan.

In the report, Germany is included in a category called “other countries”—with just over 6,000 returnees in total.

Not many from Canada either.

Morgan: When It Comes to Airport Privatization, the Benefits Outweigh the Risks

Morgan: When It Comes to Airport Privatization, the Benefits Outweigh the Risks

The Liberal government is running perilously low on money.

The spring economic update celebrated a deficit lower than had been projected but still contained a fiscal shortfall that can only be called massive. This likely inspired the government to pitch the notion of privatizing Canada’s airports for the second time in a year. Funds from the sale of airport infrastructure could be used to reduce government debt or to add to the planned sovereign wealth fund. Nearly 20 percent of the world’s airports are privately owned, and it comes with risks and benefits.

Mark Carney’s honeymoon is ending – just not in the way most people expected

Mark Carney’s honeymoon is ending – just not in the way most people expected

There were several rounds of chatter over the summer and into the fall about whether the honeymoon was over for Prime Minister Mark Carney – and if not yet, when that moment would come.

Elbows sagged; President Donald Trump went on blowing up like a puffer fish; tariffs were carving up certain sectors of the economy and regions of the country; CUSMA hadn’t been rescued; the only shovels in the ground on major projects would have been digging anyway; groceries, gas and mortgage payments were still gouging.

It isn’t about the Honeymoon, it’s about his voters holding their breath in the hope they pass out before having to admit they made a horrific mistake that has created a lost generation of Canada’s youth.

I’ll say it if Starmer won’t. Islam is the cause of Jew hatred

THE stabbing of two Jewish men in Golders Green on Wednesday wasn’t a random act of ‘far-right thuggery’, to use the Prime Minister’s favourite expression of disapproval. It has been declared a terrorist incident, based on the targeted anti-Semitic nature of the attack. Although an Iran-linked group has claimed responsibility, officers have said there is no evidence linking the suspect to any proscribed organisation or extremist group. A ‘British’ Somalian, Essa Suleiman, 45, has been charged with attempted murder. Meanwhile, the official response from those running the country has been the same linguistic dance of Tiptoe Through the Tulips we have witnessed ever since October 7, 2023.

Poilievre argues Carney has ‘wasted an entire year’ on possible Alberta pipeline

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says the prime minister has “wasted an entire year” deliberating a potential new oil pipeline out of Alberta — criticism that comes after Mark Carney said a new pipeline is “more probable than possible.”

“He’s been prime minister for a year and he still hasn’t even made up his mind whether he supports a pipeline,” Poilievre told reporters at a news conference in Toronto on Sunday morning. “He’s wasted an entire year.”

Carney is waiting for the the deal that best suits China.
