Campfire songs enjoyed by generations of Girl Guides have had their lyrics changed to omit references to God as part of an inclusivity drive.

In a now-deleted blog post, Girlguiding said that the tradition of singing songs could have “references that have been hurtful to people” and suggested groups could make changes “so everyone can join in”.

The Satanic Temple (TST) made headlines in 2022 for fighting for the right to create after-school clubs for students and has recently been launching new groups across the country, raising concerns for religious advocates about the potential impact Satanism may have on students’ perception of faith.

A January theatre production out of Newton North High School has landed the school district under federal investigation by the Department of Education after the company barred white students from auditioning.

The Massachusetts school’s Theater Ink program put on a show titled ‘Lost and Found: Our Stories as People of Color,’ which according to the show’s audition packet acted as ‘a reserved safe space for this exploration and for people of color to be vulnerable and support one another.’

At the time of auditions last fall, the student director posted a video to the company’s website declaring that ‘All BIPOC [Black, indigenous and people of color] students at North are invited to audition.’

Why did the board force out their founder?

The old adage goes that there are two sides to every story, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. There doesn’t seem to be a better way to describe the recent turmoil at Project Veritas, the conservative journalism organization known for its undercover sting operations. Project Veritas’s founder and CEO James O’Keefe resigned from his post a little over a week ago after the non-profit’s board of directors placed him on unpaid leave pending an investigation for alleged financial malfeasance and abuse of staff.

Everyone knows electric vehicles are silent. But did you know they are also silencing something?

AM radio is something you can’t hear in a number of new EVs — including Teslas and the 2023 Ford Lightning, the electric version of the popular F-150 pickup truck. The same is true for Ford’s Mach-E “Mustang,” the automaker’s first mass-market electric crossover SUV.

These EVs aren’t equipped to receive AM signals.

It’s heartwarming to see the big corporations doing what must be done in order to ensure a just and equitable society for all. And so visitors to Disneyland will never again be subjected to having to hear these horrific racist lyrics: “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay / My, oh my, what a wonderful day / Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way / Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay.”

Five people were injured in a shooting at a Los Angeles beach Saturday night mere miles from where local officials held a gun buyback event earlier that day.

Gunfire broke out at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro around 5:45 p.m., police said. Four of the five people injured were taken to the hospital by emergency personnel, while a fifth was transported by a friend.

In October 2000, Ali Soufan, a 29-year-old Lebanese-American FBI agent, was driving across Brooklyn Bridge when his pager beeped. More than 7,000 miles away, off the coast of Yemen, suicide bombers in a fishing boat had blown a hole in the side of the USS Cole, a missile destroyer, killing 17 American sailors.

Soufan was being summoned to the office, where his mentor John O’Neill, head of the FBI’s National Security Division, would put him in charge of the investigation. O’Neill and Soufan were rare voices in the FBI and beyond in sounding the alarm about the scale of the threat posed to the US by al-Qaida.
