The former senior CIA official found with more than $40 million worth of gold bars in his house allegedly created a fake, highly classified intelligence program that he used as a conduit to funnel millions of dollars for his personal use, according to people familiar with the criminal investigation.

David J. Rush, who was arrested last month and charged with one count of theft of public money, constructed what is known as a “special access program,” a sort of black box for the most secret intelligence operations, the people familiar with the investigation said. Even intelligence personnel with the highest security clearance cannot access an individual SAP, as they are known, without specific authorization.

Quebec RCMP officer charged after allegedly organizing family member’s illegal entry

RCMP say a 36-year-old officer from Quebec is facing charges after allegedly taking part in organizing the entry of a family member into Canada in September 2024 through an unguarded path.

The federal police force says Aaron Baringue, from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., has been charged with breach of trust and obstruction and is scheduled to appear in court on July 20.

RCMP Cst. Marie-Pierre Guertin says Baringue allegedly drove to the United States while off duty to pick up the family member.

Late on Thursday, the New York Times came out with a story by Katie Glueck and Lisa Lerer that featured GOP operative Lyndsey Fifield making accusations against progressive darling and Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, including how “she said he regularly grabbed her by the shoulders — sometimes hard enough to leave marks — and, on one occasion, yanked her out of a cab by her wrist after an argument when she wanted to stay in the car.” However, on Friday, Fifield torched The Times in a series of X posts for what was not in the story, including more evidence for her accusations that she was “set up” because The Times did not include other women who were going to accuse Platner of sexual assault despite telling Fifield they were going to.
