Sources told Radio-Canada that Ottawa has agreed to welcome a certain number of migrants through official channels. The precise details of the deal are still not known.

European young adults are critical of both US and China – study

Young people in three European countries are sharply critical of the world’s two most powerful countries, a study has found.

They are concerned about the US’s role as the “world’s policeman” and China’s growing economic might, says US-based Pew Research Center.

The findings are based on focus groups with some 120 adults aged 18-29 in the UK, France and Germany.

Participants were from across the ideological spectrum.

Many voiced concerns about how the US has wielded its power on the global stage and criticised its actions abroad as self-interested.

We Are at War with Mexico

Are military invasion and annexation the only solutions?

There is a great deal of agonizing handwringing over the crisis that the United States faces at our southern border. Legislators from both ends of the political spectrum talk about comprehensive political reform, increasing border patrol at the U.S./Mexico border, and granting a pathway to citizenship to DACA residents living in America.

Few dare to diagnose and declare the nature of our real problem and proffer viable solutions: that Mexico is a hostile foreign power located at our border, that we are actually at war with Mexico, and that the only solution might be air strikes, military invasion, placing the country into political receivership or, more—outright annexation.

The U.S. occupation produced one tragic debacle after another. Public judgment of the war’s proponents moved from “convincing” to “mistaken” to “deceptive” to “deplorable.” Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis died, and millions more endured needless suffering. Baghdad did not emerge as a shining city on a hill. Once enthusiastic about the invasion, the American people first stopped delighting in the project and then, unless forced to attention by some discrete new horror like the rise of the Islamic State (IS) group, stopped looking at all.
