Shamima Begum has said that ‘she fears for her life’ after an arson attempt last week.

The 22-year-old jihadi bride was targeted by ISIS fanatics who firebombed her tent in the Kurdish-run refugee camp al-Roj in northern Syria.

Begum is allegedly the main target after denouncing the terror group as she pleads with lawyers to help her leave the camp.

I call bullshit.

The number of “honour-based” abuse (HBA) offences recorded by English police forces has soared over the past five years, figures suggest.

According to data from the 28 out of 39 constabularies that responded to freedom of information (FoI) requests, the number of HBA cases – including offences such as rape, death threats and assault – rose from 884 in 2016 to 1,599 last year, a rise of 81%.

There are estimated to be 12 to 15 so-called “honour” killings in Britain every year. Notorious cases include Banaz Mahmod, whose father, uncle and other relatives plotted to murder her after she left an allegedly abusive marriage and fell in love with another man; and Samia Shahid, from Bradford, who was killed on a trip to Pakistan. Shahid’s ex-husband and father were arrested in Pakistan in connection with her death but her father died while on bail and nobody has stood trial.

The British Army looks to be recruiting Muslim women by conducting ‘boot camps’ to give them a taste of the military life – at a time when the armed forces have been accused of “failing to protect” female recruits from harassment.

Earlier this week, a video of the camp was broadcast on the BBC’s Asian Network. The roughly two-minute clip, which has also been shared on social media, featured three Muslim women from the city of Bradford being “put through their paces – army style” on an assault course.

… While Major Kate Hannaford from the Royal Artillery noted that “different people who think in different ways” were needed to build “the army of the future,” women apparently make up only a “tiny fraction” of an estimated 450-500 Muslim soldiers in the army.

500 Muslims in total in the UK’s armed forces from a total Islamist population of over 3 million, roughly 5.9 per cent of the UK’s total population. That says something about where loyalty lies.  But yea go ahead and train them. They may regret that when numbers hit 10%.

Twenty-nine men have been charged in connection with the sexual exploitation and rape of a girl over a seven-year period in West Yorkshire.

The offences are said to have taken place in and around Calderdale and Bradford between 2003 and 2010 when the victim was aged between 13 and 20.

The men are due to appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on 7 and 9 July.

The father of the Manchester Arena bomber influenced his son’s extremist beliefs, a senior MI5 officer has told the inquiry into the attack.

A senior director general, referred to as Witness J, told the Manchester Arena Inquiry an assessment by the security services found it was “likely” Ramadan Abedi shaped his son Salman’s views.

The court has previously heard Ramadan Abedi has refused to help the inquiry.

He remains a suspect in the police investigation into the atrocity.

The Home Office must take greater responsibility for how deradicalisation programmes are working with potential terrorists, a review will recommend.

The review found that Prevent, the government’s counterextremism strategy, was ineffective in some parts of the UK because certain local authorities were involving Muslim groups that actively opposed the programme in the process of deciding whether individuals need to be deradicalised.

… Separately, a report by the Henry Jackson Society, a think tank, has warned of a “fundamental mismatch” between the threat posed by Islamic extremism and the number of referrals to Prevent.

Despite Islamic extremists making up three quarters of offenders in prison for terror-related offences and the vast majority of suspects on the MI5’s terror watchlist, they represent only 22 per cent of all Prevent referrals and 30 per cent of Channel cases.

Prevent is being undermined by activists who are opposed to its very existence being allowed to decide if individuals need to be deradicalised, a review will find – as it emerged Islamists behind four recent attacks were all referred to the scheme.

The review – which will be handed to Priti Patel next month – found that Prevent was ineffective in some parts of the UK because councils were involving Muslim groups with a ‘divisive’ agenda.

… Ian Acheson, a former prison governor and senior adviser at the Counter Extremism Project, said the official narrative that the far-right is the fastest growing threat is a ‘comfort blanket’ obscuring the ‘patently more potent threat of Islamist extremism’.

Reaction to the death of Sir David Amess has been dispiriting

The reaction from the political establishment to the murder of Sir David Amess has been what you might expect. Politicians and media commentators of all persuasions have been united in their condemnation of the brutal slaying of this evidently popular member of parliament. And that is, of course, how it should be.

But I detect that, deeper in the bowels of political activism, matters aren’t quite so categorical. There hasn’t, it seems to me, been the same kind of grassroots unity of purpose and solidarity accompanying Sir David’s murder as that which we saw in the wake of the dreadful assassination of Jo Cox. Fewer candles and words of unconditional condemnation, no Twitter hashtag, a little more reticence among those who were not of Sir David’s political hue.

The UK does not want the focus to be on the latest terrorist killer’s Islamic ties.

As best I can remember, I’d never heard of Sir David Amess before learning of his murder. That’s a shame, because he appears by all accounts to have been that rare politician who was in it for the right reasons — who, that is, loved his country, cared about his constituents, and made “public service” sound like a fair job description rather than a cynical Clintonian lie. But then I guess that’s precisely the kind of politician who rarely makes the big headlines.

U.K. Home Secretary Priti Patel said Sunday the counter-terrorism program is undergoing an independent review. The suspect in the deadly stabbing of Conservative MP David Amess had reportedly been referred to “Prevent” several years ago — as had at least two others in the past few years who went on to commit violent or deadly acts.
