Other faiths with their own religious courts are not seeking to impose their ‘laws’ on the rest of society

Donald Trump’s barnstorming speech at the UN included a particular claim about Britain that merits closer examination.

After berating delegates for leading their countries to disaster, claiming that Europe was being “invaded” by “illegal aliens”, the US president turned his attention to our capital city.

Having clearly not forgiven Sadiq Khan for allowing that giant baby blimp to be flown over Parliament Square when he visited in 2018, he said: “I look at London, where you have a terrible mayor, terrible, terrible mayor, and it’s been changed, it’s been so changed. Now they want to go to sharia law. But you are in a different country, you can’t do that.”

Trump knows what he’s talking about.

Europe faces a demographic and cultural crossroads. As aging populations and a shrinking workforce strain welfare systems, immigration is promoted as a key solution. But are immigrants to be viewed as ‘anywheres’ who can just be relocated to supply the labor market as needed? Spanish researcher Juan Ángel Soto thinks not. In his new report for the Danube Institute, The Empire Strikes Back: Why Civilisational Aspects Matter in Migration Policy, he argues that the civilisational legacies of former empires continue to influence the integration of migrants today.

“What I am trying to show in this work,” Soto explains to europeanconservative.com, “is that immigration cannot be analyzed solely in numbers or economics. There is a civilisational background that explains why some countries achieve better integration than others.”

Muslims in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein are set to receive two additional public holidays, while preparations are also underway for Islamic studies to be introduced as a regular subject in schools. These measures are part of an agreement between the Schleswig-Holstein state government and the Northern German Association of Islamic Cultural Centers (VIKZ).

According to the Ministry of Culture, officials, employees, and students of the Muslim faith will be able to take time off on the first day of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha.

In central London in February, Turkey-born asylum seeker Hamit Coskun was attacked with a knife and violently assaulted. His assailant, Moussa Kadri, swung at him multiple times with a bread knife. ‘I’m going to kill you’, Kadri said, before kicking and spitting on Coskun as he fell to the ground. Yet it is the victim of this harrowing assault, not his attacker, who committed the more serious crime in the eyes of the English justice system. Because prior to being attacked, Coskun had burned a copy of the Koran.

Islamism does not invent hatred: it structures it, provides it with an army, supports it with a theology of conquest. Where anti-racism speaks of reparation, Islamism speaks of extermination.
