‘So much uncertainty’: Michigan’s Arab American businesses navigate Trump’s Canada trade war

In Dearborn, Michigan, home to the largest community of Arab Americans in the US, one industry has risen above all others in recent years: Yemeni cafes.

At the forefront is Qahwah House, a powerhouse in the burgeoning Yemeni cafe world with 32 branches open across the country. Three of those are here in Dearborn, with more on the way, and they attract people from near and far.

“We estimate that around 10% of our Dearborn business comes from Canadian customers,” says Mohamed Ahmed, marketing director at Qahwah House.

Why did Britain give a Hamas chief’s bodyguard a passport?

Why did Britain give a Hamas chief’s bodyguard a passport?

The failure of the British state is long-term and corrosive. It emerged this weekend that Mr. X, a former bodyguard of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, was allowed to settle in the UK and given British citizenship – before going on to allegedly coordinate a Hamas terror plot in Germany. He also faces separate terror charges in this country.

The case of Mr. X was quickly followed by the news yesterday that Britain’s Home Secretary plans to launch a new resettlement scheme which prioritizes Afghan women and girls, and Palestinians of both sexes.

RAF plot ‘may have been a dry run’

Five men arrested on suspicion of a bomb plot near a Royal Air Force base may have been conducting a “dry run”, it is feared.

The British nationals, all aged in their 20s, were detained on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and preparation of a terrorist act contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act near RAF Fairford on Sunday.

They had travelled to the area in three vans, found 400m from the Gloucestershire air base, which were later examined by army bomb-disposal specialists and a robot.

He did not provide evidence or further details. Tehran has strongly denied any involvement.

10 Muslims jailed for 130 years after setting a mother and girl on fire

Ten men have been jailed for a combined 130 years after a mother was set on fire in a revenge attack that also seriously injured a teenage girl.

To escape the flames at a house on Beverley Drive in Stoke-on-Trent, on the night of 16 December 2021, both victims were forced to jump from an upstairs window they had smashed.

The convictions of the 10 men involved came after an 11-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, which ended in February, alongside a number of guilty pleas entered before the trial began.

Donald Trump has warned the five men arrested over a foiled terror attack at RAF Fairford were ‘looking to do big damage’ to US forces.

However, counter-terrorism police are understood to be probing a potential link to Iran.

Why the ‘Far Right’ is So Obsessed With Knights

Why the ‘Far Right’ is So Obsessed With Knights

The Financial Times (FT) recently published a piece called “Why is the far right so obsessed with knights?,” about UK patriots who have had enough of the scourge of mass immigration, written by Elise Morrison, a Cambridge PhD candidate “researching medieval culture and contemporary society.” Coincidentally, medieval culture and contemporary society are serious interests of my own. So I was curious to see how this Left-wing publication would frame the answer to Morrison’s question.

Face-to-face with ‘bomb plotters’: Villager tells of 999 call after stumbling on masked men

Driving home from a party in the early hours, a local farmer came across three seemingly abandoned white vans blocking a quiet country road.

Confused, she turned her car around. As she did so, she saw a group of masked men in balaclavas scattering into the trees and across the fields towards RAF Fairford.

She accelerated away and called the police. When she stopped, she also messaged her local WhatsApp group and warned people to lock their doors.

Brit security knew nothing about the plot. Canada is becoming more like GB every day.
