The Israeli embassy was the target of a terror plot linked to Iran, The Times has learnt.
A group of Iranian men are suspected of planning an atrocity at the embassy in Kensington, west London.
Counterterrorism officers, supported by the military, swooped in to make arrests at the weekend fearing that an attack was imminent.
New York police have arrested dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters after they occupied part of the main library at Columbia University on Wednesday.
Two university security officers were injured when protesters forced their way into Butler Library on Wednesday, according to a statement from the university president, who called activists’ actions “outrageous”.
… Rubio described the group as “trespassers and vandals”. He added that “pro-Hamas thugs are no longer welcome in our great nation”, echoing Trump’s justification for his recent crackdown on pro-Palestinian campus protests.

While Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Israeli citizens on Monday night, inviting them to ask about plans to expand military operations in Gaza “without the media’s filters,” Hamas pleaded with world leaders to pressure Israel to back down. The terror group’s request was likely directed specifically toward European governments, which have largely kept their backs turned to Israel since the October 7th pogrom.

The Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) has always denied being an extremist organisation, yet there can be little dispute as to the extremist views of its most “significant” director.
Anas Altikriti, who was president of the MAB from 2004 to 2005, has described the mass slaughter and rape of Israeli citizens on Oct 7 2023 as “a lie” and called the taking of hostages “a very important part” of any “act of resistance”.
The MAB has tried to distance itself from Mr Altikriti, saying he “does not speak for, nor represent the views of the MAB”.
Mohsen Mahdawi, 34, was released from custody following an order from US District Judge Geoffrey Crawford, with the defiant protester sending a message to President Trump and his administration immediately after his release.
“I am saying it clear and loud to President Trump and his cabinet: I am not afraid of you,” Mahdawi said outside the Vermont courtroom.
On April 26, a group of unelected Palestinian Authority (PA) officials approved the appointment of Hussein al-Sheikh as “Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Vice President of the [non-existent] State of Palestine.”
PA President Mahmoud Abbas, who also serves as chairman of the PLO Executive Committee, had nominated the 64-year-old al-Sheikh for this position in accordance with a decision by the Palestinian Central Council, a body dominated by Abbas loyalists, to create the position of “Deputy Chairman of the PLO Executive Committee and Vice President of the State of Palestine.”

The Hebrew word mechdal has no precise equivalent in English. It signifies a great catastrophe for which human beings are responsible by inaction, error, or irresponsibility. The Yom Kippur War of 1973, which began when an unprepared IDF was taken by surprise by simultaneous Syrian and Egyptian attacks, has often been referred to as a mechdal. The October 7, 2023, attack was an even greater mechdal.
The more you learn about the events of that day, the more it seems that almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong. In fact, things could easily have gone far worse.
As the war in the Gaza Strip is about to enter its 20th month, the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group has once again repeated its refusal to disarm. It says the weapons are needed to continue its fight against Israel. Those who believe that Hamas would ever agree to lay down its weapons are living in a dream world. There is, unfortunately, only one way to convince Hamas to disarm: military force.
Recently, two senior Hamas officials, Mahmoud Mardawi and Bassam Naim, announced their group’s absolute rejection of any proposal related to laying down its weapons. They said that other Palestinian terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip also reject any plan to disarm.
