Michael A. Sachs: Some Jewish Canadians planning exit strategies to more welcoming U.S.

TULSA, OKLAHOMA — Over the past few weeks, my inbox has been flooded with frightened and heartbreaking messages from Canadian Jews. Many are scared and looking for ways out of Canada, telling deeply personal stories of fear, marginalization, and hopelessness.

I had shared in these pages my family’s reasons for choosing to leave Canada — Vancouver, specifically — to pursue opportunities in the U.S., and obviously hit a nerve with National Post readers

Arrest made in Montreal after death threat to Jewish man caught on video

A man has been arrested and will remain in custody after allegedly hurling abuse at a group of people in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough, including death threats, caught on video, towards a Jewish man.

…. The incident comes just a week after a separate case in which a 23-year-old man was charged with assaulting a Jewish father in front of his children in Montreal’s Parc-Extension neighbourhood. In another incident, a woman was arrested after throwing liquid that ‘smelled like urine’ at Jewish participants at the Montreal pride parade last Sunday.

They won’t name the Perp.

Hamas Has Left Netanyahu with No Option but to Occupy Gaza

The international condemnation Israel has received after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his plan to assume control of Gaza overlooks one critical fact. Netanyahu has no option other than to embark on this course of military action because Hamas’s terrorist leadership has demonstrated unequivocally it has no interest in agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza.

Former justice minister Irwin Cotler calls on Israel to end war, starvation in Gaza

Former Liberal justice minister Irwin Cotler has joined thousands of Jews calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war and starvation in Gaza.

The longtime human rights activist is a staunch supporter of Israel and has faced death threats from Iran over his support for the Jewish state and democracy worldwide. He has signed an open letter saying Netanyahu is jeopardizing peace at home and abroad.

“The policies and rhetoric of the government you lead are doing lasting damage to Israel, its standing in the world and the prospects of secure peace for all Israelis and Palestinians,” the letter reads.

My bet is Netanyahu will remain in power at least until an Israeli made peace is accomplished.

I doubt Israel is much concerned with Cotler’s effort to remain on progressive invite lists.

41 per cent of Canadians support Mark Carney’s move to recognize Palestinian state: poll

A plurality of Canadians believe Canada’s move to recognize a Palestinian state is a good idea, while nearly one-third of Canadians are against it, according to recent polling.

The polling by Leger for Postmedia found that 41 per cent of poll respondents support Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to recognize a state of Palestine. In late July, Carney’s office announced that if certain conditions were met, Canada would recognize such a state at the United Nations General Assembly in September.

It was an online survey.

New West Bank settlement will ‘bury idea of Palestinian state’

Israel has announced it will build an enormous settlement in the West Bank to effectively “bury the idea of a Palestinian state”.

About 3,300 homes would built between Jerusalem and the Jordan border under the plans announced on Thursday, in direct response to British and French plans to recognise an independent Palestine.

Critics fear the “E1” project will effectively cut the West Bank in two, preventing a contiguous body of land that could form the basis of a viable Palestinian state.

Another Al-Jazeera Reporter Was a Hamas Terrorist; Al-Jazeera Should Be Designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization

Anas al-Sharif, the Palestinian “journalist” who was killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) this week, never concealed his affiliation with the Iran-backed Hamas terror group. Before and after his death, photos of al-Sharif continually socializing with top Hamas leaders appeared on social media platforms. Al-Sharif was also known for his public support for terrorism against Israel.

The television network al-Sharif worked for, Al-Jazeera (Arabic), has always served as the official mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood organization and its affiliates, including Hamas.

Jewish visitor to Halifax confronted with ‘Heil, heil, heil’ at Palestinian rally

A Montreal lawyer has filed a hate crime complaint after he and his wife, both Jewish, were confronted by a demonstrator at a Palestinian rally calling out “Heil, heil, heil” at them during their visit to Halifax.

Dan Goldstein, 51, had travelled from Montreal with his wife, Liat Lev-Ary, to visit Nova Scotia, and on Aug. 6, after touring the Halifax Public Gardens, they went for lunch. They followed their phone’s map to get to a restaurant, Goldstein said.

Toronto film fest nixes Oct 7 doc screening, cites Hamas ownership of massacre clips

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) announced this week that it had canceled its invitation to screen a documentary about the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, due to ostensible copyright concerns stemming from the fact that the filmmakers did not receive permission from the Hamas terrorists whose clips are featured in the film.

Conrad Black: There’s Only One Way to End the Israel–Hamas War

Though it is being widely attacked as an unjustified use of force, the announced Israeli intention to take control of Gaza and eliminate Hamas as a terrorist organization is eminently justified by Hamas’s outrages against Israel. It is also the only possible way of bringing peace to the Arabs and the Jews of the area.

There is perhaps some symmetry in the fact that these biblical lands provide—even in the 21st Christian century, and more than 5,000 years after the identifiable origins of the Jewish people—a place of severe contention and of almost impenetrable hypocritical posturing by a great many nations of the world. The neighbouring Arab powers make the usual formulaic statements of sympathy for the Palestinians, but because the Palestinian extremists are affiliated with terrorist insurgent organizations in their own countries, they will not receive any Palestinian refugees.

Chairman Chow and her right hand Islamist Ausma Malik

A pro-Palestinian group’s planned “Danforth takeover” Tuesday near eight TTC subway stations is a “threat to critical city infrastructure,” a Toronto city councillor said.

Israeli strike in Gaza slays Anas al-Sharif, who Israel says posed as an ‘Al Jazeera’ journalist while directing rocket attacks for Hamas

Dead journalist Anas al-Sharif had the bad luck to be frequently pictured with Muslim terrorists.

The Israel Defense Forces killed Anas al-Sharif, who Israel says posed as a journalist for the Qatari Al Jazeera network but was actively serving as the head of a Hamas terrorist cell.

Al-Sharif, who was slain in Gaza City on Saturday, was responsible for orchestrating and advancing rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops, the Israeli military said.

Rachel and pals are incensed at the NATPO’s callous treatment of their Muslim terrorist hero.

Trump on Canadian Tariffs and Carney’s Policy Toward ‘Palestine’

President Donald Trump has just made clear that there will be consequences for those countries that now propose to recognize a “Palestinian” state. He has said that it will be difficult to make a deal on reducing tariffs on Canadian goods after Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada would at the UN General Assembly meeting in September announce its support for a “Palestinian” state.
