Five Al Jazeera journalists have been killed in an Israeli strike near Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital, the broadcaster has said.
Correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, alongside cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa were in a tent for journalists at the hospital’s main gate when it was targeted, Al Jazeera reported.
The “targeted assassination” on Sunday was “yet another blatant and premeditated attack on press freedom”, it said in a statement.
Canada is joining international partners Saturday in panning Israel’s plan to take control of Gaza City approved this week.

Montreal — An identifiably Jewish man was walking with his family in a quiet Montreal neighbourhood where a large Hasidic Jewish community makes its home, when he was violently attacked on Friday afternoon. He was repeatedly punched to the ground, his kippah ripped from his head and thrown into a splash pad.
The assault, caught on video and widely shared on social media, shows his young daughter clutching his arm as it unfolded. He ended up in hospital. His attacker fled.

OTTAWA – A new poll suggests Israel is losing the battle for hearts and minds in Canada, with more Canadians now reporting their sympathies lie with Palestinians due to moral outrage over the war in Gaza.
Another poll suggests a slight majority of younger Canadians now say they’re optimistic about the prospects for peace in the Middle East — just as the broader public’s mood returns to the pessimism seen decades ago.
“There is absolutely disappointment in the actions of the current Israeli government,” said Adam Chapnick, a professor with the Royal Military College.
Online polls are not a hill to die on and given much of our media are water carriers for Hamas they cannot be trusted.

One of the lead organizers of pro-Palestine rallies in New York – David (Sung Mo) Chung – is paid $75,000 to protest, Nate Friedman first revealed in an investigation that he posted to his social media.
Friedman has been talking to people at protests for over a year, and now works to uncover professional protesters. He first came across Chung at a “Hands Off Iran” protest in NYC, he told The Jerusalem Post in an interview on Thursday. Friedman was trying to speak to a man with a flag that read, “There is no god but Allah,” but just “two sentences into the interview, another man interrupted and pulled the guy aside, and told him they were getting ready to march.” The other man was Chung.
