The share of foreigners involved in gang rapes hit a record high in 2025, reaching 53 percent. A total of 751 victims were gang-raped in the country. The data comes from a response by the German federal government to a parliamentary request by the Alternative for Germany (AfD).

The Bitter End of Germany’s Anti-Fascist Identity
At the protests against the Alternativ für Deutschland’s (AfD) party conference in Erfurt last weekend, a reporter for Apollo News was chased through the crowd and kicked in the head. He suffered a bloody wound. The next day, representatives of the anti-AfD alliance ‘Widersetzen’ were asked repeatedly if they condemned the attack. Initially they refused. Eventually, one activist replied: “Fascists with a press pass are still fascists.”
Germany is quietly falling apart
In Germany, the trains have stopped running on time, bridges have been shut over safety fears, and the country’s largest carmaker, Volkswagen, is cutting a sixth of its workforce. The government’s response amounts to a shrug, dressed up as reform. It seems like Germany is on a bad streak – and the AfD looks set to reap the rewards.
Take the railways, the infamous Deutsche Bahn. A few weeks ago, they ground to a total halt. Every train in the country stood still, because the radio system that lets drivers talk to signal boxes – a system that appears to date, in spirit if not in silicon, from the Kaiserreich – simply stopped working. For several hours, nothing moved on the tracks of Europe’s largest economy.

Right-Wing Journalists Attacked During Anti-AfD Protests
Organisers of the left-wing radical alliance Widersetzen (‘Resist’) have refused to condemn attacks on right-wing journalists following large-scale demonstrations held during the Alternative für Deutschland’s (AfD) federal party congress in Erfurt.
More than 31,000 people took part in protests across the Thuringian capital on the weekend, which were organised to disrupt the AfD’s congress and block participants from attending.

Carney to choose Germany and Norway to build Canada’s submarines
German shipbuilder ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) is expected to be Canada’s preferred choice to build the navy’s new fleet of submarines, sources confirm to CBC News.
Prime Minister Mark Carney will be in Halifax later today where he’ll put an end to long-running speculation about the future of the multi-billion dollar program which will determine the navy’s future.
I’m liking the Korean Turtle Ships as consolation prize for the surface fleet’s replenishment given the U-Boats have won the day for Germany.
AfD reaffirms ambition to govern Germany
Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) has reaffirmed its ambition to govern the country. Wrapping up the party’s national convention in Erfurt, the capital of the eastern state of Thuringia, re-elected co-leader Alice Weidel was pointing to current opinion polls that see the party in the lead across Germany. “We are the strongest force. We are a people’s party with 30% support. And we will govern,” she said.
Earlier, delegates had confirmed the party’s co-leadership. Weidel, who ran as the AfD’s main candidate in Germany’s 2025 federal election, slightly improved on her result from two years ago, winning 81.3% of the vote. Her co-chair, Tino Chrupalla, by contrast, lost significant support and received just 70%.
Merkel told the German arms sector: “We don’t really need you, if there is a problem we call the Americans”.
Speaking at the Welt Security Summit on July 2, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperge recounted that Merkel had told the arms sector: “We don’t really need you, if there is a problem we call the Americans.” The dependence on Washington, he suggested, had been a deliberate choice.
He added that prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, there was “no great need for weapons systems in Germany itself” and that companies like Rheinmetall had been pushed into a “dirty corner” because they exported arms.
“They actually didn’t want us here in Germany,” he remarked.
Germany: Getaway driver in Stade mass shooting identified as pro-migrant consultant
A 45-year-old man, identified as Fatih Khan G. and described as Turkish, shot and killed six employees at a youth welfare facility in Stade on Monday. New details reveal that 65-year-old Sylvia S. of Bremen was behind the wheel of the getaway car, with the woman working as a “migration consultant” for a nationwide advocacy organization within Germany’s migration policy sector, according to Nius news outlet.

The AfD wants to make sending migrants home sexy
When senior members of Germany’s AfD were seen at a secretive “remigration” summit in November 2023, there was a national outcry.
Accused of fraternising with neo-Nazis, Alternative for Germany (AfD) scrambled to distance itself from the summit and dismissed a senior aide who had attended.
But three years on, there is nothing furtive about the hard-Right party’s embrace of remigration, the idea of deporting foreigners en masse that is sweeping across Europe’s populist Right.
Antifa Clashes With Police and Reporters at AfD Conference in Germany
Far-left Antifa radicals descended upon the annual conference of the anti-mass migration Alternative for Germany in Erfurt on Saturday, clashing with police and journalists.
While AfD delegates gathered at the Erfurt Exhibition Centre in the central German state of Thuringia to select party leadership, an estimated 20,000 leftist protesters demonstrated outside of the event, police told Die Welt.

German police are preparing for one of the largest security operations in Thuringia’s history ahead of the Alternative für Deutschland’s (AfD) federal party congress in Erfurt this weekend after an internal threat assessment warning of an elevated risk of violence.
The assessment, obtained by Apollo News, states that police expect most protesters to come from left-wing organisations, civil society groups, and trade unions.

Volkswagen as a Symptom of Europe’s Industrial Decline
Volkswagen is no longer facing a simple internal restructuring. The German group is considering a downsizing plan that could affect up to 100,000 jobs worldwide and lead to the closure of four plants in Germany—Hanover, Zwickau, Emden, and Neckarsulm (the latter associated with Audi) after previously reaching an agreement with unions to eliminate 50,000 jobs by 2030.
The figure places Germany’s largest industrial company in the midst of its most severe labour crisis in decades.
