Last week in Topeka, Kansas, the followers of Jesus Christ clashed with the slaves of Satan, and Christ won. A relatively obscure group called the Satanic Grotto tried to stage a “Black Mass” outside the Kansas State Capitol and was met by thousands of Catholic protesters who had no intention of standing by and allowing the devilry to proceed in peace.
If there’s anything more frightening than a Supreme Court “which has been receptive to claims from religious groups, particularly Christian ones,” the New York Times has yet to find it.
The Congolese chapter of Islamic State has a ruthless way of stopping outsiders reporting their presence to the authorities. Under the edicts of their founder, Jamil Mukulu, who once lived as a cleric in London, anyone who strays across them in their forest hideouts should be killed on sight. ‘Slaughter him or her, behead them immediately,’ Mukulu once commanded. ‘Never give it a second thought, do not hesitate.’
Cardinal Francis Leo of the Archdiocese of Toronto is expressing “profound concern” over the Trudeau government’s desire to strip pro-life groups of their tax charity status.
In a letter dated February 21, 2025, addressed to Canadian Minister of Finance Dominic LeBlanc, Leo called upon the Liberal government to stop its planned attacks against the charitable tax status of pro-life groups.
France’s churches are under attack, yet the media and political establishment are pretending not to notice. Last year, we saw blazes at historic churches in Rouen, Saint-Omer and Poitiers – each one another grim statistic in an escalating crisis. For years, we’ve seen Christian places of worship targeted in acts of arson and vandalism. Yet, until now, official confirmation of the scale of the problem has been curiously absent. That has changed. The French territorial intelligence service has reported a 30 per cent increase in criminal church fires in 2024. That’s not a handful of isolated incidents – it’s a surge. And a deeply troubling one at that.

Cheerful evidence that they have can be found in the 40 or so cities and provinces, including Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary, and Saskatchewan, that for the first time have officially declared December to be Christian Heritage Month.

Since that quote was first published in 2017 by G. Michael Hopf in Those Who Remain, it has become one of the most oft-quoted phrases in the conservative universe. (I’ve quoted it a number of times.) That’s because it perfectly captures the current state of Western civilization.
When Canadian progressives talk about “inclusion,” you can be sure that Christians are about to be excluded.
When the Canadian Armed Forces issued a directive instructing chaplains that they must be “inclusive” at Remembrance Day ceremonies, for example, they meant that Christian prayers and traditional symbolism were to be excluded, especially because — as a 2022 report from the DND noted — Christianity is “a source of suffering and intergenerational trauma” for many Canadians, with this being “especially true for many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirited members of Canadian society.”
On Nov. 18, Nashville News Channel 5 reporter Phil Williams delivered a breathless “exclusive investigation” into the supposed right-wing radicals targeting rural Jackson County, Tennessee, for a takeover. He claimed, “their views are not so different from the ideas espoused by the neo-Nazis and other white supremacists seen marching down Nashville streets in the past year.”
The Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC) has published its annual report 2024 (referring to 2023). According to the organization, during that year more than 2,400 attacks against Christians took place in Europa.

While Christians in America are celebrating an end to the hostile Biden-Harris regime, Christians in Europe witnessed increased persecution and hatred last year, according to a new report. The Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe) published its annual report on Friday, examining instances of “intolerance and discrimination against Christians” over the course of 2023. Unfortunately, the report found that religiously-motivated hate crimes against Christians more than doubled last year.
We fear the return of demons
Is he the messiah? Or just a very naughty boy? Since Russell Brand found Jesus he hasn’t stopped talking about it, whether on TikTok, or Tucker Carlson’s live show, or while baptising other men in a lake while clad only in his tighty-whiteys. Then, over the weekend, he and Jordan Peterson led a crowd of 25,000 outside the Washington Monument in the Lord’s Prayer as part of the Rescue the Republic gathering.
Perhaps it’s all showbiz. Or perhaps all these putative messiahs are signs of the End Times. Certainly the idea that the American Republic needs rescuing at all — let alone with prayer — suggests there’s an apocalyptic mood afoot. Last Sunday, even Donald Trump — not renowned for his piety — got in on the game, posting the Catholic prayer to St Michael on X.
Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre went to church last Sunday, not once, not twice, but three times — to three evangelical churches in the Toronto area where he briefly participated in the services, made a short political speech and moved on.
The three churches are all in ridings held by Liberal MPs and the congregants are mostly members of ethnic minority communities, which makes these visits smart politics for a campaigning Conservative leader.
Correspondent Sarah McCammon joined her NPR colleague Michel Martin on Thursday’s Amanpour and Company on PBS to discuss her book, The Exvangelicals: Loving, Living, and Leaving the White Evangelical Church because public broadcasting networks stick together. Naturally, Evangelicals’ relationship with Donald Trump and the “politicization of religion” was a big part of the conversation, but McCammon made it clear that her definition of politicization was that Christians do not bend their beliefs to appease the LGBTQ crowd.
