Canadians are getting poorer relative to their peers in many other countries and our living standards are falling. This trend is expected to continue well into the future, unless our policymakers make significant changes.
TLN aired an interview with Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and his wife, Anaida, on the weekend. If Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tuned in, it must have ruined his vacation. Should the Conservatives win the next election, little of what Mr. Trudeau’s Liberal government enacted will survive.

Canada’s Trade Minister Mary Ng has dismissed U.S. protests over Canada’s record on protecting copyright owners as merely a “political tool,” according to a staff briefing note.
Blacklock’s Reporter says the United States recently placed Canada on its 2024 “watch list” due to concerns over copyright theft.
“Their presence will simply make life intolerable for Canadians – particularly Jewish Canadians.”
More than 3,000 Gazans to date have been approved for visas to enter Canada, says a Department of Immigration briefing note, just released by Blacklocks Reporter.
“Canada is the only country in the world with a dedicated pathway for extended family members of its citizens or permanent residents in Gaza,” said the May 27 briefing note. The volume and severity of police-reported crime rose for the third consecutive year in 2023, with increased reporting of child pornography being the largest contributor, a new Statistics Canada report says.
Canada’s Crime Severity Index (CSI) increased by 2 percent in 2023, continuing an upward trend observed since 2015. The rise of the index, which assesses both the number and relative severity of crimes, was driven primarily by a 52 percent increase in reported rates of child pornography compared to 2022, according to StatCan’s July 25 report.

A new survey finds 63% of Canadians consider themselves overtaxed by the federal government, which is spending too much and unwisely, an opinion that is eight percentage points higher than last year.
