There is growing outrage in Brooklyn and in Newark after two statues to honor George Floyd were targeted by vandals.
On Tuesday, Samaria Rice, the mother of Tamir Rice, condemned former Black Lives Matter leader Shaun King as a “white man” and an “imposter.” She accused him of trying to fundraise off of her son’s death and off of a call she had with him. She described the call as “very toxic and uncomfortable for me.”

Authorities said the woman, Briana Sykes, drove up to the cop, who was on traffic duty during the Flint parade on Saturday, and fired at the officer, Fox affiliate WJBK-TV reported.

A non-profit group tied to Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors failed to report significant donations to the IRS, according to a new report.
Dignity and Power Now, a group that Cullors founded in 2013 to help black and minority prisoners, brought in at least $225,000 in 2016, but only disclosed $50,000 to the IRS, according to the New York Post.
Because the group claimed it took in only $50,000, it did not have to file a return or outline all of its spending and donations to the IRS.
Residents in one Chicago ward are “giving up” on calling the police as the city fails to protect them from violent crime, according to one city council member.
Alderman Raymond Lopez described the violence plaguing his constituents in the city’s 15th Ward and beyond, slamming Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot, whose law enforcement policies and focus on systemic racism, he said, are doing little to stop the mostly gang-related violence.
