Supreme Court Won’t Hear Lawsuit Claiming Military Draft Discriminates Against Men

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a challenge to the requirement that only males can register for the military draft.

The order (pdf) suggests that only men will still be required to register under the Selective Service System.

A group called the National Coalition for Men, a men’s rights group, filed the challenge, arguing that the male-only draft amounts of unconstitutional discrimination on the basis of sex. The group highlighted the 2013 Department of Defense order that allowed women to serve in military combat roles.

4 killed in London, Ont. collision likely targeted for being Muslim, police say

Four members of a London, Ont., family who were struck and killed by a vehicle in the city’s northwest Sunday evening are believed to have been targeted because they were Muslim, the area’s police chief says.

“We believe this was an intentional act and that the victims of this horrific incident were targeted,” Chief Steve Williams told reporters Monday afternoon.

“We believe the victims were targeted because of their Islamic faith.”

More … A 20-year-old London man identified by police as Nathaniel Veltman is now in custody in connection with the attack.

The U.S. government has been taking a hard look at unidentified flying objects like this one. A report summarizing what the U.S. knows about “unidentified aerial phenomena” — better known as UFOs — is expected to be made public this month.

DEL RIO, Texas—On any given day in Del Rio, hundreds of Venezuelans wade across the Rio Grande from Mexico into the United States. They’re carrying more belongings than illegal aliens from most other countries. One woman, who said she was a photographer back home, had her professional Nikon camera equipment in her backpack.

They arrive on shore and proceed to change into dry clothes, discarding the wet ones on the ground. Discarded shoes, many looking new, dot the pathway up from the river in two main locations. Some pull toothbrushes and clean their teeth.

Pandemic likely to drive a surge in immigration fraud, border agency warns

The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to drive an increase in immigration fraud and human smuggling as desperate migrants try to get into Canada, says a strategic intelligence report prepared by the Canada Border Service Agency.

The report warns that economic downturns and increased poverty abroad caused by the pandemic will prompt more people to resort to irregular methods to come to Canada.

“With more people looking to immigrate, there is likely to be an increase in fraud in all immigration streams via the use of fraudulent supporting documentation to bolster visa or permanent resident applications, fraudulently acquired travel documents to be able to board flights to Canada and misrepresentation,” says the report, dated June 2020.

Statue of Egerton Ryerson ‘will not be restored or replaced’ after it was toppled at downtown rally

The statue of Egerton Ryerson, considered one of the architects of the residential school system in Canada, that stood outside the university that bears his name was toppled and vandalized Sunday evening following a demonstration in downtown Toronto.

The act occurred at Ryerson University after a rally that was held in response to an announcement by the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation on May 27 that preliminary findings from a survey conducted by a specialist in ground-penetrating radar indicated the remains of what could be 215 children buried on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.

These antics are boring. Few would care if leftist cesspits like Ryerson were bulldozed.

Another piece, proposed by Teresa Margolles, features the “casts of the faces of 850 trans people, most of whom are sex workers”.

Democrats’ Racism Obsession Is an Affront to Liberty

Those who insist we’re all racist have fallen prey to the very thing they claim to fight.

I was deeply interested in politics from childhood. I was gripped by the drama of the campaign for civil rights, and I was appalled by the shocking images of segregation and its violent supporters that I would see, beginning from the Little Rock school crisis in the late ’50s through the great campaign of the early ’60s to pull down the legal structures of forced race separation and to restore denied political rights.
