A Canadian mother sued OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, in US court on Thursday, alleging that ChatGPT encouraged her daughter to kill herself. The lawsuit is the latest in a slew accusing the company of failing to address dangerous conversations between users and the company’s chatbot.

Kristie Carrier said in a lawsuit filed in San Francisco state court that her daughter, Alice, told ChatGPT about her suicidal ideations more than a dozen times leading up to her death but that OpenAI’s safety systems never flagged the conversations for human review or terminated them.

“These are paid, foreign elements that are attacking our city and causing this kind of death in our city, to one of our police officers and way beyond random shootings at schools and synagogues,” City Councillor Mike Colle said Thursday.

From Carney on down they will do their best to whitewash this event as one-off non-terrorist event.

The fact that Graham Platner had a Nazi tattoo on his chest for nearly 20 years should have been disqualifying. Instead, all the enthusiasm from the Democrat Party base was for him, and he won the Maine Democrat Senate primary on Tuesday. He will now face incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) in the fall. At this point, Platner has managed to get away with the tattoo in part because the Democrat base is antisemitic anyway, but also because he’s claimed he had no idea what the tattoo meant.

It’s not a “fake” problem if the legislation is signed into law.

Well Carney won’t ever have worry about driving his Chinese EV across the border so it’s all good.

President Donald Trump claimed that the ceasefire terms reported by Iranian state media on Friday were “fake news” and denied offering any monetary compensation to Tehran to secure its cooperation in ending the war.

Iranian state media began circulating a 14-point ceasefire agreement Friday morning that included more than $300 billion being paid out to Iran. Some of that, $24 billion, was Iranian assets frozen by international banking institutions, while the remaining $300 billion was to be paid by the United States as reparations for damage caused by months of airstrikes.

York police say two suspects are facing charges in a potentially hate-motivated incident that saw a Markham school’s Pride flag burned.

Officers responded to the school located near Yonge Street and Clark Avenue in Markham on Tuesday for reports that the flag had been burned. The school was not named by police.

Two 18-year-old suspects, identified as Sepehr Abadar and Mahan Mohammad Radmard, both of Markham, have each been charged with mischief under $5,000.
