Anthony Furey: Toronto’s radical plan to turn all homeless shelters into drug sites

The City of Toronto’s shelter system is still guided by radical policies that encourage the city to hire active drug addicts to staff their programs, push for drugs and drug kits to be provided in abstinence-based facilities and even require that all shelters with children residing in them provide drug services.

A reasonable person would think that these sorts of wrongheaded policies, to the degree that they existed at all, would have been phased out by now. After all, the provincial Ford government has wisely moved to close public sector drug injection sites close to schools and daycares and is pivoting towards programs that push for treatment over maintaining addictions.

Muslim groups, other leaders demand Abbott rescind CAIR’s ‘terrorist’ designation: ‘Defamatory’

A group of Muslim and interfaith leaders are urging Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, to reverse his proclamation designating the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as a “foreign terrorist organization.”

Texas’ designation is state-level only. It does not carry the legal force of a federal Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) listing, which only the U.S. State Department can issue. Abbott’s proclamation, therefore, does not trigger federal terrorism penalties or authorities.

Liberal government spent at least $530 million on NextStar battery plant: documents

The federal government has paid out at least $530 million in incentives to NextStar Energy, the company behind a major battery plant in Windsor, Ont., records show.

It’s a relatively small portion of the billion-dollar funding deals with NextStar, which is a joint venture between global automaker Stellantis and South Korean battery firm LG Energy Solution. The federal government is providing up to $10.5 billion, while the province has pledged up to $5.5 billion.

Still, the figure provides fresh insight into the financial and contractual relationships between the federal government and NextStar — relationships that have been the focus of intense scrutiny since Stellantis announced it’s moving production of a Jeep model from its Brampton facility to the U.S.

CIA head reveals National Guard shooting suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal worked with spy agency in Afghanistan as Trump blasts Biden for flying him in during disastrous withdrawal from country

The director of the CIA has sensationally revealed the suspected shooter of two National Guard troops in Washington D.C. worked with the agency in Afghanistan prior to the military’s disastrous withdrawal in 2021.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, was identified as the alleged gunman taken into custody after the horror shoot-out took place on Wednesday just yards from the White House – leaving two soldiers in critical condition.

Late on Wednesday night, CIA Director John Ratcliffe told Fox News Lakanwal had direct links to the CIA from his work alongside US Special Forces in Afghanistan.

Even before it’s made public, the Ottawa-Alberta deal is taking heat from all sides

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May is pretty sure that backbench Liberal MPs from British Columbia are really worried.

Why? “They’ll lose their seats,” she told reporters. “And they like their seats.”

The Ottawa-Alberta memorandum of understanding that has not yet been released − to be signed Thursday by Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith − is that bad for the political fortunes of Liberal MPs, Ms. May said on her way into the House of Commons on Tuesday.

WIECHNIK: Alberta’s oil patch is one coup away from crisis

As the United States masses an aircraft carrier and nearly a dozen other naval warships off the coast of Venezuela, it looks increasingly possible there may be a regime change in Latin America sooner rather than later.

Reports say that as many as 15,000 US sailors and Marines — the largest American deployment in the region since the ousting of Panama’s president Manuel Noriega in 1989 — are involved in the move, which has been officially dubbed by Washington as a “counternarcotics mission.”

The Pilgrims Were English Ethno-Nationalists

After winning the New York City mayoral election earlier this month, Zohran Mamdani declared “New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants and as of tonight, led by an immigrant!”

It’s become commonplace among liberals to say things like this. They have gone far beyond the “we’re a nation of immigrants” trope, such that we now routinely hear assertions that “America was founded by immigrants” or “America was built by immigrants.”

Toronto Zoo Map Labeled Israel As “Palestine”; Zoo Says It Is Investigating

Toronto Zoo – The real animals aren’t here

TORONTO — A visitor to the Toronto Zoo reported that a world map displayed in the Indo-Malaysia pavilion labeled Israel as “Palestine.” The Toronto Zoo acknowledged the report and said it is investigating the matter.

The image shows a printed map panel used as part of an exhibit on tiger distribution. The word “Palestine” is located within the geographic outline of Israel. The visitor noted that political bias has no place in publicly funded educational experiences.

Why hasn’t Britain banned the Muslim Brotherhood?

Donald Trump this week moved to designate the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group which supports sharia law and the creation of a caliphate, as a terror organisation. Given its own exposure to the Brotherhood’s influence, should Britain consider doing the same?

Earlier this year, the French Ministry of the Interior published an official report on the organisation’s networks, strategies and methods inside democratic societies. It concludes that the Brotherhood’s core threat is not conventional terrorism but instead subversion from within. It documents a deliberate, long-term campaign to infiltrate civic life: religious councils, educational settings, charities, advocacy groups and municipal political structures.

Black Market Religions: “Secularization is a religious process rather than an irreligious.”

Recently Utah Senator John Curtis in the Wall Street Journal wrote about a survey he conducted after the murder of Charlie Kirk: “Among the hundreds of messages that poured in, an alarming cohort spoke to the vicious cycle of online hatred they see and the isolation they feel on social media.”

These sermons of hate are delivered not by a preacher in a pulpit from which he addresses a congregation seated in pews, a community of other human beings sharing their spiritual humanity and beliefs; but by online apps and algorithms that spellbind isolated strangers with wounded souls who face inhuman screens throbbing with extremism and hate.

Jamie Sarkonak: Foreign criminals keep getting their deportations cancelled

When he was about 22, a Jamaican national and Canadian permanent resident impregnated his 13-year-old stepsister. She said he forced himself onto her, he said he didn’t remember; you be the judge. She had a child. This happened in 2007, and in 2008 he was convicted of sexual interference and sentenced to five-and-a-half months.

An artist made an ‘anti-racist’ version of the UK flag. You’ll never guess what happened next

Few things do more to lift the spirits than the sight of the 21st-century Left eating itself. Which is why I invite you to enjoy the following sumptuous story, from the website Brighton and Hove News.

A local library, it reports, was due to host an “anti-racist” exhibition, featuring a “reimagined” Union flag made by a mixed-race son of immigrants. The flag is covered in images of small boats, and was made using “textiles from the UK’s diverse communities”. The council, however, has now decided to cancel it. Why?

Believe it or not, it’s because it could have “inadvertently upset minority groups”.

French Intelligence Warns of Rising Islamist Threat to Christians

Church Arson France – Parish of St. Paul in Corbeil-Essonnes

A leaked DGSI report links a surge in attacks across Europe to decades of jihadist propaganda targeting churches and worshippers.

France’s domestic intelligence service has warned of a growing threat to Christian communities, according to a confidential report obtained by Le Figaro that links recent attacks in Europe to decades of jihadist propaganda.

The warning comes in the wake of the September 10th attack in Lyon on Ashur Sarnaya, an Iraqi Christian man in a wheelchair, which investigators say reflects a persistent jihadist obsession with targeting Christians.
