Ottawa quietly testing digital ID apps despite long-standing concerns over national ID

The federal government has quietly launched pilot projects testing digital identification apps, while insisting the technology will remain voluntary and does not represent the creation of a national digital ID system.

Blacklock’s Reporter says according to a Jan. 14 briefing note prepared by the Department of Employment, the government is testing three digital credential tools — GC Issue and Verify, GC Wallet Beta and GC Verify Beta — with a limited group of participants before any broader rollout.

It’s no accident Prime Minister Mark Carney presided over the worst record of economic growth during his first year in office of any Canadian PM in more than half a century.

Actually, it was negative growth of 0.05% as reported by Bloomberg News.

Despite that, a Nanos-Bloomberg poll showed most Canadians are satisfied with Carney’s performance on the economy.

Seattle residents may no longer have to watch people engaging in lewd sexual conduct in Denny Blaine Park for All after a judge ruled that it constituted a public nuisance that substantially interfered with neighboring homeowners’ use of their properties.

The court ordered the City of Seattle to do more to deal with the issue while still allowing clothing-optional use on the lower beach area.

“I’m queer, my spouse is also queer and non-binary, and it started becoming a very unsafe place for us, as it is for a lot of queer humans existing in the U.S.,” she said in an interview from her new home in Dartmouth, N.S., earlier this month.

Blame Canada: Trump threatens increased tariffs for wildfire smoke that has ‘unnecessarily invaded’ U.S.

U.S. President Donald Trump is adding his voice to the chorus of Republican politicians who are blaming Canada for wildfire smoke drifting across the border.

Hundreds of active wildfires, most in northwestern Ontario, have triggered air quality warnings for states close to the Great Lakes, stretching from Minnesota to Maryland.

Trump threatened to top up the import tariffs he’s already levied on Canadian goods in response to the smoke that has drifted south of the border.

The shocking decision by Judge Anne Molloy overturns her recent finding that Stronach was guilty of sexually assaulting this woman, known as A.S., who once worked as a waitress in a bar Stronach owned.

Is It Possible Hollywood Is Losing Its Itch to Please LGBTQ Lobbyists?

Is it possible that the Republican war on so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” is having an effect on the movies? The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is expressing alarm at the decline of LGBTQ characters at the movies – it’s at 20.4 percent of 2025 films in their latest tally, down from 28.5 percent in 2022.

Worse yet for the GLAAD squad, none of the 19 films in the animated/family film category had any of LGBTQ characters in it, which they find alarming. Last year, the ratio was two out of 26.
