Muslim groups say MPs won’t be welcome in mosques until they call for Gaza ceasefire

With Ramadan just around the corner, a national Muslim organization and several local congregations are warning members of Parliament they won’t be welcome in their mosques until they call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, demand restoration of funding for the UN’s aid agency and condemn what they call Israel’s “war crimes.”

An open letter signed by the National Council of Canadian Muslims and a number of prominent mosques, obtained by CBC News, says MPs who refuse to make these pledges publicly will not be “provided with a platform to address our congregations.”

Doesn’t affect Justin, he converted years ago.

Top brass are alleged to have dismissed soldiers’ concerns by insisting: ‘It’s not an issue as you can tell who are predators.’

But there has been a backlash after it was revealed government guidance is giving the go-ahead for soldiers to transfer to female-only barracks as soon as they begin their transition.

German taxi driver fined over tiny rear window Bible quote sticker

ESSEN, GERMANY (20 February 2024) – The German city of Essen issued a fine against taxi driver Jalil Mashali over alleged unlawful “religious advertising,” because of a small Bible verse sticker on his rear window reading “Jesus – I am the way. The truth. And the life”.

Mashali was asked to respond to the allegation back in October 2023 and was threatened with a fine of up to 1,000 EUR if he failed to do so. The Christian convert has so far declined to remove the sticker. The authorities are now demanding a fine and fees of 88.50 EUR. Mashali is now challenging the fine. ADF International is supporting his case.

Conservative government would require ID to watch porn: Poilievre

OTTAWA – Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre says a future Conservative government would change the law to require that porn websites verify the age of users to prevent minors from accessing the content.

The Tories currently back a Senate bill that promises to do just that.

Bill S-210 passed the Senate in the spring and is set to be studied by a House committee, but no meetings have been scheduled yet.

Not sure this is a great idea.

OTTAWA – Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he believes “biological males” have no place in sports or change rooms that are labelled female.

Poilievre was asked at a news conference about his position on whether transgender women should be allowed in spaces that are labelled for women and whether he would introduce any legislation to stop it.

Poilievre told reporters he believes “female spaces should be exclusively for females, not for biological males.”

In a case unfolding quietly in a courtroom east of Toronto, James Mousaly faces a rare charge under the Security of Information Act.

I get hits indicating Mousaly may be Muslim (Iraq) in origin.

Trans baby killer sues Indiana prison for $150,000 after being ‘banned from wearing a hijab’

A transgender prisoner, serving a a 55-year sentence for strangling his 11-month-old stepdaughter to death, is suing a prison chaplain for allegedly banning them from wearing a hijab.

Jonathan Richardson, who also goes by Autumn Cordellionè, has filed a civil lawsuit against the chaplain of Branchville Correctional Facility in Indiana after he allegedly stopped the inmate from wearing a hijab outside of his cell, despite identifying as a Muslim woman.

Richardson is seeking $150,000 in damages and the ability to wear the hijab ‘anywhere I go within the facility.’
