Headlines in mainstream media about me scream “Abuse survivor demands Liberal MP apologize after testimony ‘hijacked’ in chaotic House committee” and “Witnesses storm out of House committee in tears, decrying Liberal politicization”. Social media posts include comments like “It sounds like Anita has to get assaulted viciously to take this issue more seriously”, “Look at this fat POS, someone put her out of her misery”, “I guess these women would change their mind if it happened to them or someone they love”, and worse. My car license plate was posted online. How did we get to this point?

Breaking wind on colleague was age discrimination, judge rules

Flatulence is a fact of life, although social mores apply, but a judge has ruled that breaking wind on a younger colleague at work amounts to age discrimination.

At the centre of what could be the start of defining legal boundaries on the matter are two Birmingham city council workers. Lee Marsh, a manager in his late fifties, was said to have found it “amusing” to pass wind on a younger colleague eating his lunch.

Jordan Peterson’s free speech crusade in the courts ends after Supreme Court dismisses application for leave to appeal

Author Jordan Peterson’s legal battle with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) has come to an end.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed his application for leave to appeal from the judgment of the Court of Appeal of Ontario with costs. No reasons were given.

Peterson had asked Canada’s highest court to consider hearing an appeal of a decision upholding a lower court ruling that he take social media training as ordered by the College. Peterson has been a registered clinical psychologist since 1999, but has not had a clinical practice since 2017.

Presidential candidate Kamallah Harris open to discuss arms embargo on Israel – report

Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris met with two Arab Americans leading the Uncommitted National Movement, who asked her to consider an arms embargo on Israel, at a campaign stop in Michigan, the New York Times reported.

Just before her rally, Harris met with Abbas Alawieh and Layla Elabed, who, according to the report, “wanted to support her but… wanted her to consider an arms embargo.” In response, Harris indicated she was “open to it” and introduced the two community leaders to her staff.

Canadian Armed Forces ‘pre-positioning’ ahead of possible evacuation from Lebanon as tensions mount

The Canadian Armed Forces is “pre-positioning” assets in case its fleet is needed to evacuate Canadians from Lebanon amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, according to government officials.

Over the weekend, a Canadian Globemaster aircraft, used in humanitarian and peacekeeping missions, was spotted on a flight tracking website landing in Beirut.

In a statement late Tuesday night, the Department of National Defence said the military is “currently pre-positioning assets in the Eastern Mediterranean region” in case evacuation planning and logistical support is needed.
