Muslim resident of Toronto arrested over alleged Oct. 7 New York terror plot

U.S. authorities say a Canadian resident has been arrested in Quebec over an alleged Islamic State terror plot to kill Jewish people in New York.

The U.S. Department of Justice says Pakistani national Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was arrested on Wednesday in relation to the attack it says was to take place around Oct. 7, the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel last year.

Even now, even after watching and rewatching the horrific video of her part in the senseless swarming attack on Kenneth Lee, where she’s enthusiastically hitting, punching and stomping on the vulnerable man — practically doing everything but actually delivering the fatal knife wound — the pig-tailed teen still has no remorse.

Taha Sleiman arrested after IED’s found in Niagara home

 

Niagara police have arrested a 21-year-old man Thursday in connection to explosive devices being found in a Niagara Falls neighbourhood.

EDU officers safely removed the devices and examined them before determining them to be improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in varying stages of completeness.

Following the execution of a search warrant of the home later that day, Taha Sleiman was arrested and charged.

Jagmeet Singh says challenge ahead is convincing people NDP can win

OTTAWA — Jagmeet Singh brought a message of hope Thursday in his first speech following the NDP’s exit from its supply and confidence deal with the minority Liberals, who portrayed his move as a bow to Conservative wishes.

New Democrats are attempting to paint themselves as a legitimate alternative to the Liberals and Conservatives ahead of the next election, but Singh acknowledged one his party’s biggest challenges will be persuading Canadians it can actually form government.

“Like many of you, all my life I have been told, it can’t be done. Cynics will say: Canada has never had an NDP government, it’s not going to happen,” Singh said in a campaign-style address.

Suspended Labour councillor denies encouraging violent disorder

A suspended Labour councillor has pleaded not guilty to encouraging violent disorder while addressing a crowd during an anti-racism demonstration in east London.

Ricky Jones, 57, allegedly committed the offence during a speech to a gathering that was organised in response to the nationwide violent disorder, in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on 7 August.

A video emerged after the protest in which he appeared to call for far-right protesters’ throats to be “cut” during the demonstration. Jones was charged by police with encouraging violent disorder two days later.

He claims he didn’t know that was a bad thing to say.

Kamala Harris has said she laughs “from the belly”, like her mother.

For her supporters the chuckle is a selling point, broadening the Democratic presidential nominee’s popular appeal and producing countless online tributes.

Donald Trump, though, has sought to use the laugh against Harris, offering a nickname for the vice-president — “Laughing Kamala” — and telling one rally: “You ever watch her laugh? … You can tell a lot by a laugh. No — she’s crazy. She’s nuts.”

CTF slams Parks Canada for spending $10,000 to kill single frog on BC island

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has called on Parks Canada to “get its spending under control” after it was revealed that the department has spent thousands trying to capture and kill American bullfrogs in the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.

Since 2018, over $10,000 has been dumped into the project, however very few frogs have been caught.
