Four suspected trans rights protesters attacked a gender-critical conference by releasing hundreds of live crickets into a packed auditorium.
The stunt threw the annual LGB Alliance conference into chaos, as a room of about 600 people had to be evacuated on Friday afternoon.
A protester, described as a 17-year-old girl by witnesses, who had been sitting in the crowd, dropped a bag of the insects as one of the final talks of the day was about to start.

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff says claims that he “forcefully” slapped his then-girlfriend in 2012 are a “distraction” – but did not deny the allegations in a new interview that aired Friday.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough gave Emhoff an opportunity to respond to several “tabloid stories about your personal life.” Reporting from the Daily Mail has claimed Emhoff slapped his then-girlfriend during the Cannes Film Festival more than ten years ago, with sources telling the outlet he hit the unnamed woman so hard that she “spun around.” The story, which is based on claims from several of the unnamed women’s friends as she declined to speak with the outlet, suggested he may have hit her in a moment of jealousy after he believed she had been flirting with a valet.

The system for testing truck drivers in Ontario has been compromised by bribes, forged documents and rigged testing, says a memo leaked to CBC’s Marketplace by an industry insider.
A subsequent hidden camera investigation by Marketplace reveals that the training students get ahead of that test can be just as problematic.
Ontario’s DriveTest centres are managed by a company called Serco, which oversees operations and logistics for a variety of organizations, ranging from air traffic control for the Canadian Armed Forces to employment services for the federal government.

In these progressive/woke times, it has become increasingly concerning to observe how no stand is taken as certain words, once laden with profound significance, are co-opted to serve agendas far removed from their true meanings. It is as if Orwell’s doublespeak has come to life in 2024 instead of 1984. Remember how he wrote how the powers that be insisted that War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, and 2 + 2 = 5?
ABC’s The View co-host Joy Behar didn’t get the memo on toning down the rhetoric. During Thursday’s interview with the former host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, Behar claimed Donald Trump is scapegoating immigrants and warned, “Don’t forget Nazi Germany, the Jews were the scapegoat, and look what happened here.” Elsewhere, Noah claimed “some people might struggle” with a President Kamala Harris because she is a black woman.
Ukrainian drones, targeting Russian military sites, are zeroing in on missiles and artillery stockpiles from North Korea, now Russia’s top arms supplier. At the same time, a Ukrainian missile killed six North Korean military officers and wounded three more last week in occupied Ukraine. These are believed to be the first soldiers sent by a foreign government to bolster Russia.
Six weeks ago, a South Korean Defense Intelligence Agency report said that North Korea has sent more than 13,000 shipping containers of arms to Russia over the previous two years. This is equivalent of 6 million 152-millimeter artillery shells. This was double an estimate of 6,700 containers given to reporters only six months earlier by South Korea’s defense minister, Shin Won-sik.
Outgoing CBC/Radio-Canada CEO Catherine Tait said this week that dismantling the nearly 90-year-old public broadcaster would be “absolutely tragic” and politicians like Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre should think twice before torpedoing something so closely linked to Canada’s “cultural fabric.”
But Tait acknowledged the company has work to do to rebuild trust among Canadians who have become leery of the public broadcaster and its programming.
