More than five million Britons have been banned from referring to Americans as “Yanks” after a Scottish court ruled the term mounts to racial harassment.
The ruling comes following a dispute between American Pizza Express worker Raymond Joseph and his colleague Michael Tortolano at a branch of the restaurant in Aberdeen.

Perhaps the most surprising part of the announcement of the joint Operation Hard Ball last week was how much the RCMP’s description of the actors involved in the killing of a Canadian Sikh activist differed from what it said only a short while ago.

Finnish Member of Parliament Päivi Räsänen says she has been banned from traveling to the UK after British authorities revoked her electronic travel authorization (ETA), despite it having initially been approved.
The former Finnish interior minister and physician was convicted earlier this year by Finland’s Supreme Court on a hate speech charge relating to her public statements on marriage and sexuality, which reflected her Christian beliefs and included biblical teaching.

BERLIN, July 16 (Reuters) – German far-right activist Marla-Svenja Liebich, who legally changed gender to a woman in 2024, has been taken to a men’s prison after being extradited to Germany from the Czech Republic, officials said on Thursday.
Liebich arrived in Germany on Wednesday and was initially taken to a women’s prison in Chemnitz in the eastern German state of Saxony before being transferred to a men’s prison on the same day, the Saxony Ministry of Justice said.

The husband of a Canadian woman who is set to be deported for allegedly slapping a teenage girl wearing MAGA-branded clothing says she is enduring hellish conditions inside a squalid immigration facility.
Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, is locked up at New Jersey’s notoriously grim immigration facility Delaney Hall, after being detained over an alleged assault on a teen during Fourth of July celebrations on the Jersey Shore.
Police said Tracey confronted a group of teenagers who were wearing ‘patriotic colored’ clothes, which were reportedly emblazoned with ‘Trump’ and ‘ICE’, before she allegedly slapped one of the teens.

Canadians’ opinions of the United States have deteriorated while their perceptions of China have improved compared to a few years ago, a new report suggests.
According to a Pew Research Center report released Wednesday, 44 per cent of Canadians surveyed between February and May hold a favourable view of China, while 33 per cent feel the same about the U.S. Last year, Canadians were “equally” favourable toward both countries. But in 2023, most Canadians had a “positive view” of the U.S. at 57 per cent, compared to 14 per cent that viewed China positively.
