Darnell, 21, is the standard bearer for a lucrative new kind of fame. She is a third-year student at the University of Alabama, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the “Queen of RushTok”, the frenzied corner of TikTok which charts the trials of aspiring sorority girls during their August recruitment, or “rush week” and the campus lives that they go on to lead.

“I love my sorority,” said Darnell. “I’ve definitely met my bridesmaids. And it’s also given me a career.”

Ottawa Pride parade cancelled after being halted by pro-Palestinian protesters

Ottawa’s annual Pride parade was cancelled on Sunday after it was halted by a local pro-Palestinian advocacy group that blocked the road and demanded to negotiate with organizers.

The group Queers for Palestine — Ottawa (Q4P) halted the parade “with the permission” of the grand marshal, the organization said in a press release issued Sunday afternoon just as the parade was stopped.

“This is what a village looks like!” protesters chanted from Parliament Hill, referencing the “We are a village” theme that Capital Pride was using for 2025.

Here’s a staggering statistic for you: Nearly 40 per cent of the federal civil service (147,000 of 373,000 federal bureaucrats) made in excess of $100,000 in 2024. The average Canadian made just shy of $68,000.

And that sum doesn’t include the bureaucrats’ retroactive pay raises paid out last year. Nor does it include their very expensive perks or the generous contributions Ottawa makes to its workers’ lavish pensions.

When someone, something, or a cause is running out of air, the reflexive over-action is often the exact opposite of the effective action needed to rectify or to relieve the situation.

Such seems to be the case with the various woke crusades and progressive causes as the air slips out of the balloons that had held them above any remonstrance, retribution, or rebukes that would have scuttled lesser supported and coddled indulgences.

Man putting up St George’s flags brutally ‘attacked with firebomb’ and left badly wounded

A man has said he was attacked with a firebomb while putting up St George’s cross flags. The man said he was hit in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, as he and his pals were attaching flags to lampposts in the town just after midnight on Saturday (August 23).

Video posted on social media from an account named Thyme to Crusade shows something burning on the road close to the back tyres of a stationary car. The person behind the camera can be heard saying: “Putting flags up, got petrol bombed”.

Lawyer sues firm that specializes in workplace inclusion, claiming she was bullied out of job by racism and lack of accommodation

A law firm specializing in workplace human rights, harassment investigations and diversity training is being sued by a former lawyer at the firm who alleges she was bullied out of her job through racism and failure to accommodate a medical crisis.

Lavinia Latham, 37, is a Brampton lawyer and a Black woman who started work in November 2023 as an associate lawyer at Bernardi Human Resource Law LLP, a Mississauga-based firm providing legal and human resource services.
