The Left, which identified that the organisation had received support from Catholic billionaire Pierre-Edouard Stérin, launched a smear campaign against the project, claiming that it was a militant offensive by the far Right. Under pressure from the media, the festivals that had been awarded the label were asked to withdraw.

Fans loved her new album. The thing was, she hadn’t released one

Last month, award-winning singer Emily Portman got a message from a fan praising her new album and saying “English folk music is in good hands”.

That would normally be a compliment, but the Sheffield-based artist was puzzled.

So she followed a link the fan had posted and was taken to what appeared to be her latest release. “But I didn’t recognise it because I hadn’t released a new album,” Portman says.

A man who avoided Canadian authorities for more than nine months after being accused of driving a semi-trailer truck through a stop sign, causing a crash that killed a Manitoba mother and daughter, was arrested at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on Thursday.

Navjeet Singh, 25, had been wanted since November for two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of obstructing a police officer.

Nigerian father who was denied asylum three times is allowed to stay in Britain – after belatedly claiming he’s gay

A Nigerian father whose asylum claim was rejected three times has been allowed to stay in Britain after belatedly arguing he is gay.

The man, who has been granted anonymity, first arrived in the UK in 1983 but overstayed and left nine years later.

He returned in 1996 and made several failed asylum bids, including on the basis of political opinion and later through marriage to a Portuguese woman.

Canada is just as stupid in fact worse as we have a dedicated program for importing Gay Refugees etc.
