Any parent concerned over the amount of time their child spends on social media may well consider the idea of them climbing trees as a great way to have fun for free.
But getting back to nature becomes far less enticing when the the upkeep comes with a £2,000 price tag — and doesn’t contain much nature.

The headline seems ridiculous, but it is true.
After arriving in Sweden as an asylum seeker when he was a minor, Eritrean migrant Yazied Mohamed raped Meya Åberg in September last year, when she was just 16 years old, while she was on her way back home from work.
According to the Court of Appeal for Upper Norrland, this attack was not “extremely serious”—and so does not warrant deportation—because of its “duration.” This prompted commentator Ian Miles Cheong to note that “the suffering of a 16 year old is now measured in minutes”—a sign of “how far the system has fallen.”

President Trump abruptly called off trade negotiations with Canada on Thursday after the Ontario government funded an anti-tariff ad campaign, featuring the voice of Ronald Reagan.
“The Ronald Reagan Foundation has just announced that Canada has fraudulently used an advertisement, which is FAKE, featuring Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about Tariffs,” Trump wrote in a late night Truth Social.
“High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries… Markets shrink and collapse, businesses and industries shut down, and millions of people lose their jobs.”

What’s wrong with the medical white coat? These Canadian universities are rethinking a long-held tradition
It’s simply a white coat, but its symbolism is far from simple.
For first-year medical students heading into McMaster University’s White Coat Ceremony this week, the donning of said garment represents the beginning of something profound — a dream realized, a responsibility accepted.

Canada’s border agency, charged with enforcing the country’s firearm laws, has been caught failing to properly track or secure its own weapons, according to a damning internal audit.
Blacklock’s Reporter says auditors found widespread “gaps” in how the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) manages its duty firearms, ammunition, and security systems.

An NBA player and coach are among dozens of people arrested as part of a sweeping FBI investigation into illegal sports betting and rigged, mafia-linked poker games.
Miami Heat player Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups were named by federal prosecutors in two separate indictments on Thursday.
Rozier, 31, is among six people arrested over alleged betting irregularities, including other NBA players who may have faked injuries to influence gambling markets.

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin is under fire for remarks that downplay the terror attacks that Christians in Nigeria have been suffering at the hands of Islamic extremists for decades.
Parolin was the keynote speaker for an event held at the Vatican on Tuesday. The gathering focused on the recently released 2025 Religious Freedom Report published by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN).
ACN surveyed 196 countries for its report. It found that just under two-thirds of the world’s population live in countries with “serious or very serious violations of religious freedom.” Twenty-four countries, including Nigeria, received the “worst” category in its report: persecution.

A migrant deported to France as part of the one in, one out scheme has returned to the UK on a small boat.
The man, who wants to claim asylum in the UK, is being held in an immigration detention centre. It is understood that the Home Office will seek to remove him again swiftly.
The migrant told The Guardian that he was a victim of modern slavery and did not feel safe in France.

Actor James Woods roasted failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over her outcry at President Donald Trump’s White House renovations, in which the former First Lady accused Trump of “destroying” the building. “What destroyed it was your husband getting blow jobs in the Oval Office,” Woods said

The SNC-Lavalin affair was the worst corruption scandal in federal politics since the sponsorship scandal – maybe since the Pacific Scandal. If it did not involve material gain for any of the participants, it certainly involved flagrant abuse of power, by officials from the prime minister on down.
The facts, for those needing a refresher: Justin Trudeau and senior officials in his government pressured then-attorney-general, Jody Wilson-Raybould – strenuously, repeatedly, and for many months – to interfere in a criminal prosecution on behalf of a Liberal-connected engineering firm, SNC-Lavalin (now called AtkinsRéalis), for explicitly partisan reasons. When she refused, she was fired. When at length she went public, they spent months more stonewalling, covering up, deflecting and smearing her reputation.
I wonder if Coyne has ever voted conservative? Seriously.
@fancypants_s In Nazi Germany, people had to provide proof that they weren't Jewish in order to hold certain jobs. In progressive Canada, you just have to tick the boxes declaring you aren't white. I's totally different, because Canada's being racist for all the right reasons. https://t.co/xlkSdnbW8t
