So called ‘Canadian’ convicted in foiled NYC terror plot stabs US correctional officers in prison
A 27-year-old man from Mississauga, Ont., currently serving a US prison sentence for his role in a foiled 2016 terrorist plot, has pleaded guilty to stabbing two correctional officers with a weapon fashioned from a steel desk inside his cell.
The US Department of Justice confirmed Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy’s guilty plea in a news release Tuesday, detailing the Dec. 7, 2020, incident at United States Penitentiary Allenwood in Pennsylvania.

A man in St Petersburg who was arrested on his way to a comic book and fantasy festival has become the first person to be imprisoned under the Kremlin’s crackdown on supposed Satanism.
Artyom Repin was was detained on charges of possessing a goblet with a pentagram, an image of Baphomet, a goat-headed pagan deity, and a book called Satanic Rituals. He has been jailed for 12 days.

Company building Toronto’s new electric ferries faces criminal corruption charges overseas
The shipbuilder awarded $92 million to construct Toronto’s two new electric ferries will soon face trial overseas on corruption charges and sanctions violations, a legal threat experts say could imperil the company.
The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service announced in April that it was prosecuting Damen, a major international shipbuilder headquartered in the Netherlands, for bribery, forgery and money-laundering. The service also said it was investigating the company for violating Russian sanctions.

Records viewed by CTV News show connections between an organization that received under $10 million in grants from the labour ministry and the operator of a new nightclub on Toronto’s exhibition grounds, though the people involved denied that provincial money was used there.
