Even poor students of history can see what’s happening to the U.S.

In 1935, American author Sinclair Lewis published It Can’t Happen Here, a dystopian novel about the rise of a populist demagogue named Berzelius “Buzz” Windrip, who becomes the U.S. president after cultivating a cult following for his nationalism, anti-elitism, and quixotic promises. Windrip was fixated on restoring domestic production of material goods and hated the press.

This is a lazy, silly little screed pumped out by one of Canada’s leading purveyors of TDS – the Globe.

Trump is always Hitler while the well orchestrated violence of the left is brushed aside as “democracy”.

The left’s insane rejoicing over Charlie Kirk’s murder, the multiple assassination attempts against President Trump and the Liberal-Left’s normalized calls to violence are conveniently forgotten because Trump is Hitler don’t ya know.

After a never ending smear campaign it’s no wonder Trump hates the press.

Even poor students of history can see what’s happening to the press.

They want him overthrown. President Trump’s visit to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum where he dressed down European leaders was the final straw for the leftists of ABC’s The View. They were so fed up that, on Wednesday’s episode, ABC moderator Whoopi Goldberg was openly calling for Trump to be overthrown via the 25th Amendment. It would be a move she didn’t seem educated on since it required his cabinet to act and she wanted them gone too.

Who’s the “mainstream media” these days?

The traditional (i.e. up to maybe a year ago) answer would be: it’s the New York Times, the Washington Post, CBS, NBC, the BBC and so on. In Canada it would certainly include the CBC, the Toronto Star and that other “national newspaper” (the name slips my mind).

Wrong then, and certainly wrong now. Measured by audience, influence, whatever metrics you want to use as a gauge of a dominant “mainstream” media operation, the answer today surely must include, maybe even start with, Joe Rogan.

Rogan has demonstrated a tendency to bend with the wind in the past.

He has become a celebrity talk show host (Interview with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck) and consequently a part of the establishment media. 

In 2 or 3 years  he’ll be the new Howard Stern.

Is it time to get alarmed about how Trump is kicking off 2026?

It has been an alarming start to 2026, thanks to Donald Trump.

In just seven days, Trump’s America has plucked a leader out of Venezuela and hauled him to the U.S. to face justice and seriously revved up its intents to acquire Greenland. At home, Trump’s decision to install federal immigration agents in U.S. cities has escalated into violence — deadly in one case — in Minnesota and Portland, Oregon.

If that wasn’t enough, Trump’s White House has also withdrawn support for more than 60 international organizations, agencies and commissions.

Who thinks they’re on the right side of history supporting a murderous narco state dictator’s imaginary protections under “international law”?

Or cries over the deportation of illegal alien invaders many of whom are vicious murderers?

And why is it a bad thing for a government to protect tax payers by cutting off rent seekers like the Star?

In certain ways, this fall in the United States has recalled the fall of 1938 in Nazi Germany, when mass deportations of undocumented people was one of Adolf Hitler’s most ambitious coercive policies before the start of the Second World War. In the U.S., too, the connection between domestic repression and foreign aggression is coming into focus.

That fall, the German police and SS rounded up 17,000 Jews with Polish citizenship and dumped them across the border. This set off a chain of events that provides a useful perspective on where the U.S. is now. A family was deported; a desperate refugee took revenge; the government organized a pogrom and reorganized its police; war followed.

Good Lord. The Munk-ey boys have jumped the shark, one too many circle-jerks I reckon.

Donald Trump’s erratic, kleptocratic authoritarianism is a threat to our very existence. This is what Canada must do to survive.

We would like to begin, if we could, with a question of scale. Think for a moment of the sheer vastness of this land. Try to picture it all. The impossible greatness: from the Pacific forests, dense with unspeakable trees, to the grey greens of the Newfoundland coast.

Now look at a map. Think of what you see: A country so large it can at times seem more geological than political, like a fact written into the earth. Let the natural thought come then: Nothing this large could ever go away. And yet, we know now that it could, all of it, at any time.

Two-thousand twenty five was the year the inevitable died in Canada. Thanks to Donald Trump, we know that nothing about our country is guaranteed anymore, not our sovereignty, our democracy, our prosperity.

It seems the folks who most benefited when their “free trade” deals off-shored our jobs, fattened themselves on tax payer funded Net-Zero subsidies, imported cheap labour to feather their nests, and shamelessly discriminated against us because we were white are traumatized Trump has upset their apple cart. I could not care less for the fate of their Canada.

American democracy fell this year.

Just a few short weeks ago, I was sitting in the United Nations listening to statements from the Trump administration emphasizing that the United States would never agree to anything that limited state sovereignty.

This assertion — echoing the recent use of sovereignty as a fig leaf by autocratic states to justify a multitude of sins against international law and, most ironically, sovereign countries — ignores the reality that any treaty or agreement signed, whether bilateral or multilateral, is such a limitation.
