Independent journalist Matt Taibbi sparred with MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan on Thursday over the Twitter Files and Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Hasan questioned Taibbi’s recent appearance before Congress, where he refused to reveal his sources despite Democratic Texas Rep. Sylvia Garcia repeatedly demanding answers.
HBO host Bill Maher called out the media for its “apoplectic” response to the election of what papers called Italy’s “far-right” Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the comparisons the liberal press made to fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.
Outspoken actor, comedian, and wildly successful podcaster Russell Brand joined Maher on “Club Random” and noted how the term “far-right” has been thrown around in recent years.
… Terms displaying the starkest increase in prominence between 2010 and 2021 are those relating to gender-identity prejudice, which saw a staggering 2,285 per cent increase. In contrast, terms referring to sexual orientation prejudice have actually mildly decreased in prevalence since their 2011 peak. Terms referring to sexism or Islamophobia peaked near the middle of the decade, while others, like racism or transphobia, seem to have peaked later in the decade. Notably, references to antisemitism do not display a clear upwards post-2010 trend.
Different but as nutty as the press anywhere.
Generally speaking, conservative critics want the news media to be fact-based and refrain from skewing their coverage to favor the left. Liberal media critics want the media to throw out such old-fashioned ideas, and focus only on the “correct” side of a debate, so audiences aren’t confused by facts or opinions that might lead them to a “wrong” conclusion.
For over two years, the mainstream media has regurgitated Biden administration talking points about how great leftist economic policies are, and find themselves “confused” as to why the public just doesn’t believe them.
Former CNN’s Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter made a rare return to a microphone Friday as he interviewed Megyn Kelly Show executive producer and Fourth Watch Podcast host Steve Krakauer about his new book, Uncovered: How the Media Got Cozy with Power, Abandoned Its Principles, and Lost the People. In just under an hour, the pair had a engaging and fascinating discussion about the media, CNN, Fox News, January 6, and his post-CNN life.
The cast of CBS Saturday Morning spread some misinformation about the state of education in Florida when correspondent Cristian Benavides claimed that “classrooms and school libraries look like this” while showing a photo from a substitute teacher that was fired on Wednesday for spreading misinformation.
On Tuesday, NewsBusters reported that the broadcast networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC had abandoned the environmental fallout from the February 3 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio on their flagship morning and evening shows with zero seconds on ABC and only a minute and 42 seconds on CBS and NBC after an evacuation order was lifted on February 8.
NEW YORK (AP) — Half of Americans in a recent survey indicated they believe national news organizations intend to mislead, misinform or persuade the public to adopt a particular point of view through their reporting.
The survey, released Wednesday by Gallup and the Knight Foundation, goes beyond others that have shown a low level of trust in the media to the startling point where many believe there is an intent to deceive.
Asked whether they agreed with the statement that national news organizations do not intend to mislead, 50% said they disagreed. Only 25% agreed, the study found.
It’s apparent to everyone that our media elites adored Barack Obama, in deeply embarrassing fashion. But on Monday’s CNN This Morning, Don Lemon protested when co-host Kaitlin Collins relayed “Democratic party leaders say that President Biden may still be the ticket for 2024 even if they’re not passionate about him.”
To retain journalistic credibility, getting a story right is more important than pursuing a crusade.
That’s a fair takeaway from a report published this week by the Columbia Journalism Review dissecting the so-called Russiagate saga, during which former President Donald Trump was accused of colluding with Russian officials to win the 2016 election. While pursuing the story, many journalists went well beyond their traditional role of scrutinizing powerful officials and not only openly picked a side in America’s escalating political warfare but committed to proving a literal conspiracy theory true, no matter the evidence. It didn’t go well.
CNN has never been “Facts First.” Don Lemon hosted a segment on today’s CNN This Morning to discuss Ron DeSantis’s decision to uphold the Florida State Department of Education’s decision to deny the College Board the opportunity to run a pilot AP (Advanced Placement) course on African American Studies pushing themes like “Intersectionality and Activism.”
This is an earlier clip, my favourite Don Lemon slap down.
Hey @donlemon!
Claiming #reparations from the UK for slavery is like claiming reparations from the discoverer of penicillin for being responsible for the diseases penicillin cures.

Gaslighting over the banning of gas stoves underscores the need to keep facts inconvenient to the fascist far-left from disappearing down the memory hole.
You know the drill by now: Bloomberg News had a story on January 9: “US Safety Agency to Consider Ban on Gas Stoves Amid Health Fears,” based on one study. The resulting backlash was swift and sure, but instead of admitting their mistake of banning first and asking questions later, national socialist media sources went for the propaganda options of denial and ridicule, because that’s always conducive to discourse in a free society that values liberty and limited government.
The Washington Post admitted Monday that “Russian trolls on Twitter had little influence on 2016 voters” — years after the Post and other corporate media water-carriers pushed the false story that former President Donald Trump’s election was illegitimate, due in part to Russian interference via bots on Twitter targeting U.S. social media users. The admission cites a New York University study that found “there was no relationship between exposure to the Russian foreign influence campaign and changes in attitudes, polarization, or voting behavior.”
Media treatment of the non-story followed a predictable, three-step process that’s become the propaganda press’s MO: Spread a false claim, control the narrative while crushing dissent with bogus “fact checks,” and then admit the truth only after the news cycle has achieved its intended purpose.
AP takes millions from groups leveraged in green investments to promote the need for green investments.
The Associated Press revealed last year that it had scored $8 million to promote claims of global warming. The AP impartially described this massive conflict of interest as an illustration of “how philanthropy has swiftly become an important new funding source for journalism”.
“This far-reaching initiative will transform how we cover the climate story,” its executive editor claimed. That is no doubt true. And an incredibly damaging admission.
