Sweden has seen several protests involving the burning of the Quran over the last few years but recent burnings and desecrations of the Muslim holy book have fuelled increasing tension between Sweden and countries in the Muslim world.

The Swedish Security Police Säpo, which is responsible for counter-terrorism operations and other espionage operations, is now warning that Sweden has become a priority target for Islamic radicals looking to carry out acts of terror.

At least 35 killed in Pakistan after explosion at Islamist political rally

At least 35 people have been killed in an explosion in Pakistan during a rally organised by an Islamist party.

At least 200 people were also injured in the explosion in north-west Bajaur district, where Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) was holding a meeting.

Authorities have cordoned off the area and have warned the death toll is likely to rise further.

Calgary man denied bail on terrorism charges related to TikTok video

CALGARY — A 20-year-old Calgary man has been denied bail on four terrorism-related charges that allegedly stemmed from a TikTok video.

Zakarya Rida Hussein was charged in June with two counts of facilitating terrorist activity and two counts of participating in or contributing to, directly or indirectly, an activity of a terrorist group.

Toronto man charged for alleged ISIS recruitment, fundraising campaign: RCMP

A Toronto man has been arrested and charged with terrorism offences for allegedly helping to recruit and fundraise for the Islamic State, the RCMP said Friday.

The charges against Khalilullah Yousuf come months after he was charged with similar offences in the United States for allegedly providing financial support to the terrorist organization.

Muslim nations call for boycott of Swedish products

The diplomatic fallout over the burning of the Quran outside a mosque in Sweden is threatening to escalate into a trade war after calls from Muslims in the Middle East and North Africa came to boycott Swedish products.

Last month, a 37-year-old Iraqi refugee who wants the book banned tore out pages from the Quran and set them alight outside of Stockholm’s central mosque. A key point of contention is the fact that the protest was given the go-ahead by a Swedish court.

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Sweden’s prime minister said Thursday that police have received several permit applications for the burning of religious texts in the country next week, and that he fears this may escalate tensions further with the Muslim world.

In his first public comments since the start of the Quran burning crisis that has severely strained Stockholm’s ties with Muslim nations, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson told Swedish news agency TT he was “extremely concerned” about a new wave of desecrations.

Suspected Jihadi John of the ISIS Beatles is found dead in his Spanish prison cell while awaiting a verdict on terror charges

A former British rapper once believed to be the ISIS killer ‘Jihadi’ John has been found dead in his prison cell in Spain.

Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, 32, had been tried earlier this month at a court in Madrid on suspicion of heading an itinerant jihadist cell he allegedly formed after leaving Syria, and was awaiting the verdict.

He is understood to have been found dead at a prison in El Puerto de Santa Maria in Cadiz, south west Spain. One unconfirmed local report said his body presented no obvious signs of any violence.

Internet footprint of the Canadian arrested in the U.K. for Islamist terrorism

 

A Canadian arrested for terrorism after landing in the United Kingdom last week allegedly used social media to disseminate the ideological materials of a group banned by the British government.

Khaled Hussein, a 28-year-old Edmonton resident, has been charged with being a member of the outlawed Al-Muhajiroun, which British prosecutors said also went by the name Islamic Thinkers Society.

Mohammad Moiz Omar “intended to perpetrate a mass casualty event” when he entered the Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre during early morning prayer on March 19, 2022 and sprayed bear spray toward congregants while swinging a hatchet, according to an agreed statement of facts.

According to the statement, he was motivated by an intense hatred for and desire to intimidate Muslims, prompted by his belief that Islam is “an intolerant and violent religion.”

Intolerant and violent? Wonder where he got that crazy idea!

Brussels bombers guilty seven years on

Six men have been found guilty of murder and attempted murder for their parts in the Isis suicide bombings in Brussels that killed 35 people and injured more than 300 in 2016.

Among them were Salah Abdeslam, previously convicted for his role in the Bataclan terrorist attack in Paris a year earlier, and Mohamed Abrini and Osama Krayem, both of whom failed to detonate their explosives after apparently losing their nerve.

Old Vienna, in the midst of a demographic crisis, is a museum inhabited by elderly people strolling in the Prater. Islam has won.

340 years ago, on July 15, 1683, an Ottoman officer approached the walls of Vienna with a proposal to surrender. The message was delivered to a Croatian soldier: “Accept Islam and live in peace under the Sultan! But if you resist, then death, desolation and bondage will be the fate of you all!”

In Vienna, two months later, Europe defeated the Ottomans and only the battle of Marathon in 490 BC. C. – where the Athenians defeated a Persian expeditionary force – had the same significance for Western culture.

Islamists Rally Outside European Parliament Over Swedish Quran Burning

Approximately 200 Muslim protestors gathered outside the European Parliament Wednesday, July 19th, as Islamic groups in Brussels rallied against the controversial burning of the Quran in Sweden.

Shouts of “Allahu Akbar” were heard right outside the Parliament as an almost exclusively male crowd gathered at Place du Luxembourg at 4:00 p.m. organised by a group calling itself the ‘Muslim Community of Brussels.’

“Canadian Man”

A Canadian man arrested by British police at Heathrow Airport last week on suspicion of terrorism offences has now been formally charged.

“The Crown Prosecution Service has authorized charges in relation to Anjem Choudary and Khaled Hussein under the Terrorism Act,” said Nick Price, chief Crown prosecutor for the CPS counterterrorism division.

“The charges relate to the proscribed organization Al-Muhajiroun, also known as the Islamic Thinkers Society.”

French teen left disfigured by ‘Maghreb’ youth mob who attacked her with broken glass for wearing ‘immoral’ crop top on night out

A French teenager was hospitalized after an attack by a group of youths who had taken issue with her choice of clothing on a night out left her face disfigured.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the 19-year-old victim, named as Nissan, was on a date with her boyfriend in the southern French city of Toulouse.
