But the evidence that some cultures are treated more equally than others by the authorities continues to mount.
AS news lands with a fairy-lite flutter on media desks across the nation, that 15 Bradford men have just been jailed for 188 years for raping a young white girl, it’s worth reflecting on the words of local MP Robbie Moore from last year, when a dozen other Pakistani Muslim men got a total of 130 years prison time for raping two girls, one just 13.
I don’t know what’s worse, junk science or junk history. There is unending propaganda about an Islamic Golden Age of the past that today’s Islamists want to recreate. Much the same as a century ago, fables about an “Aryan super-race” long before Western Christianity motivated a lethal totalitarianism. Neither is true, of course, and obscures the amazing story of how Western Civilization got us to where we are.
Jan. 3, 2027 will be a historic day. Barring some unforeseeable circumstance, when the fateful day comes around, Hisham “Adam” Hamawy will become the first member of the United States House of Representatives to have worked for a group linked to al-Qaeda, and to have served as a defense witness for a jihad terror leader. The way the Democrat Party is going, he likely won’t be the last. And so America must face the reality: the enemies are well inside the gates, and inside the corridors of power as well. Canada has an antisemitism problem, but listening to our politicians, government agencies and some in the media, it’s easy to get the impression that no one really knows where the hatred is coming from or who is committing attacks against Jews.
In his much-discussed speech Monday at a Toronto synagogue, Prime Minister Mark Carney called out Jew-hate as a “crisis” that is testing the very “nature” of our country. The lifting of reporting restrictions has made public for the first time that 15 members of a grooming gang have been jailed for the rape and sexual abuse of a young girl in Bradford, England, between 2007 and 2011.
The West Yorkshire Police disclosed on Wednesday that the 15 men had been sentenced to a combined 188 years in prison over their sexual exploitation of one Bradford girl from when she was 14 to 18 years old.
A police force has been accused of threatening free speech after telling officers to record instances of “hostility” towards Muslims.
South Wales Police has instructed staff to log anything that goes beyond “legitimate” discussion of Islam.
Campaigners fear this subjective definition gives officers the power to decide what is acceptable behaviour and could have a “chilling effect” on free speech.
Italian authorities have arrested a 21-year-old man of Moroccan origin on terrorism charges after investigators concluded he had been radicalized online and was potentially preparing a violent attack.
21-year-old Zakaria Ben Haddi, born in Italy to Moroccan parents, was detained on the orders of the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office following an investigation into his social media activity. The Muslim Brotherhood is many things: a political organization with global presence; a secretive society, with high-level connections into business and government; a missionary body that seeks to maximize the presence of Islam around the world; an institution-builder, whose members are prolific in setting up organizations, putting its presence at one remove; a movement, stretching way beyond its Arab Muslim origins; and a network of networks that among other things allows Muslim and non-Muslim groups to fight alongside each other. It is associated with Hamas in Palestine and has past ties to Al-Qaeda. Its people put themselves forward as interlocutors, seeking to intercede between governments and their Muslim populations, using their networks as leverage. In some respects it is a state proxy, closely linked to Qatar and the Turkish regime of President Erdoğan. It is a charity promoter, working for the sake of Muslims and Islam worldwide, but especially in Palestine. And, last but not least, it is an ideology, with a commitment to Islamic supremacism and the defeat of the West.
These different aspects don’t always work in tandem. Indeed, the Brotherhood sometimes finds itself on different sides of political conflict. But such ambiguity can work to its advantage, creating leverage to maximize its interests and undermine its real enemies: to turn them against themselves and each other.
