Poll Suggests That Canadians Do Not Link Syrian Migrant to Terrorism

Now is the time that we dissect the propaganda.

canlinsyr

Here:

People who backed a plan to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada in a matter of months largely expected no increased risk of terrorism as a result, newly released federal polling information reveals.

About 44 per cent of those surveyed in November were in support of the plan. And of them, about 60 per cent thought there would be no change to the terrorism threat facing Canada in the next six months.

However, 35 per cent of respondents didn’t support the plan were concerned, and 55 per cent of them told pollsters they thought the threat of terrorism in Canada would increase in the next six months.

Also:

One expert says that tacking on three explicit terrorism questions to a survey about immigration puts the government in a position of suggesting a link between the two issues.

But Jack Jedwab says the poll results show that Canadians themselves don’t make the link, which stands in contrast with populations in many other parts of the world.

People who were in favour of the plan either did not make any link or did not want to.

What previous polls suggest:

More than 70 per cent of Canadians don’t support the federal government taking in more than 25,000 Syrian refugees, according to a new poll from the Angus Reid Institute. Two in five respondents think Canada should stop taking in Syrian refugees immediately.

**

The Ipsos poll, conducted exclusively for Global News, found that 60 per cent of Canadians disagree with Justin Trudeau’s election promise to relocate 25,000 people displaced largely due to the conflict in Syria.

Opposition is highest in Alberta with 70 per cent and lowest in Ontario with 56 per cent.

The major concern among those who oppose the Liberal’s refugee plan is security and the fear that appropriate security checks will be limited in order to hit Trudeau’s timeline.

The headlining poll, therefore, does not suggest that Canadians do not believe a link exists between Syrian migrants and terrorism, only those who support the government’s plan. Other polls suggest that terrorism was a concern given the short amount of time that the Syrians were brought in.

Oh, popular press! The things you say!

Washington Post writer: When I met Islamic State fighters, I couldn’t hate them

“ISIS kidnapped my best friend. But when I met its fighters, I couldn’t hate them,” by Sebastian Meyer, Washington Post, February 5, 2016.

Imagine the Washington Post publishing an article in 1943: “Nazi Germany sent my best friend to Dachau. But when I met its fighters, I couldn’t hate them.” How have these people lost all moral compass, or worse, decided it best to side with America’s enemies?

“The Islamic State commits despicable acts of cruelty, but the men who carry out these crimes are not the two-dimensional caricatures they’re painted to be. They are human beings, many indoctrinated at the most impressionable age and coerced into service.” Of course they are. And no one, actually, should be hated. But to write a piece like this is to equivocate on the moral evils these men commit every day.

Dear Media: Stop Trying To Teach Christians Theology

We could multiply articles in the Christians-are-meanies-and-I-know-the-Bible-better-than-they-do genre like St. Peter multiplied the animals after they left Jonah’s Ark. But it wouldn’t change the fact that the Most Holy Synod of Journalists doesn’t have an inerrant track record on religion. For instance, they sometimes need reminders that the resurrection is an actual thing Christians believe happened.

…An analogy might help: Imagine a person who has never seen a Star Wars film, but has merely heard plot summaries from other people he doesn’t really trust. Then imagine he watches the “Jar-Jar is a Sith Lord” theory on YouTube. Then send him on a 20-year military conquest on camel back in Saudi Arabia. Then ask him for a synopsis of “The Force Awakens.” The answer you get will be more or less as accurate as Christians believe the Islamic scriptures are when it comes to God.                                                                                                                               h/t

Be Considerate of Others and ASK Before You Take That Last Chicken Leg

A fight over dinner has left one man dead, and another man charged with his murder.

At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police say five men were fixing dinner and drinking in an apartment in the 1400 block of Lakeside Estates. Reinaldo Cardoso Rivera, 38, reportedly became angry when Darwin Perez Gonzalez, 34, took the last piece of chicken.

Police say the argument escalated into a fist fight in the parking lot, where Rivera allegedly stabbed Gonzalez and took off with a knife.

Gonzalez died at the scene.
Rivera later returned to the scene and admitted to officers he stabbed Gonzalez. He was taken into custody and charged with murder. Officers say they recovered a kitchen knife in Rivera’s possession.

Armed Robber’s Family Complains He Was Shot “Too Many Times”

bodegarobbery

The family of a Chicago man gunned down during a robbery attempt are calling for his shooter, a concealed weapon permit-holder, to be prosecuted for the shooting. The Washington Post is helping to further that effort, suggesting the failed robbery could even be a Halloween prank gone horribly wrong.

Police say Saturday night Reginald Gildersleeve walked into the small bodega Agencia Mexicana while wearing a mask and announced a holdup, whipping out what appeared to be gun. Moments later he was gunned down by an unnamed patron. It was later discovered that Gildersleeve’s gun was a paintball gun.

Chicago police are treating the case as rather open-and-shut. Even if Gildersleeve wasn’t carrying a real gun, he was brandishing like it was, and the shooter acted accordingly.

But now, Gildersleeve’s family is calling for charges to be levied, saying that the habitual criminal didn’t deserve to die. Igbinosa Oronsaye, Gildersleeve’s stepson, told The Chicago Tribune the shooter overreacted in shooting multiple times.

“Some people don’t actually know how to use guns,” Oronsaye said. “They go to firing ranges, but it’s not the same as a bullet going into someone’s body, it’s not the same as a bullet going into flesh. They should be able to wound first, kill next. He didn’t deserve to get shot multiple times.”

Oronsaye also said the shooter needed to be punished for killing a member of the community.

“You just took a brother, you just took a father from a lot of people. Somebody’s got to answer for that,” he said.

French Journalist Attacked By “Far-Right Jewish Extremists”

He’s not Charlie Hebdo:

A leading French journalist has been assaulted by pro-Israel vigilantes as a mob tried to storm the offices of the country’s national news agency in Paris.

David Perrotin, who currently writes for the news site BuzzFeed, was placed under protection after being attacked by around 12 masked men brandishing batons on Thursday night.

All were linked to the Jewish Defence League (JDL), a notoriously violent group that was protesting against Agence France Presse’s (AFP) coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Another report here.

This seems peculiar and convenient. He was taking pictures the whole time but produces very few circumstantial ones?

Never Eligible to Vote, Young ILLEGIAL ALIEN* DREAMER Plays A Key Role in Clinton Campaign

la-na-lorella-praeli

The L.A. Times writes a fawning piece on Hillary Clinton’s rather odd outreach program for Illegal Aliens who cannot vote.

Hillary Clinton will sell out to any group (from Illegals to BLMs) that she thinks she can use because real Americans will have nothing to do with her.

UPDATE: This story just gets better and better!

The communists love her!

This freeloader and her welfare-mooching parents brought her to the United States for FREE medical care (via Welfare) after she had her leg amputated in Peru. It appears she has been ‘on the grift’ for free goodies at the expense of American generosity ever since!

*Illegals that get a pass from the Obama administration and then marry a U.S. national seem to get fast-tracked to Citizenship. Try this stunt legally (and even Gavin McInnes will attest to it) and find out how far your white privilege gets you. It cannot be done.

Shut Up, New York Times

There is a reason why rags like this are going under:

IT is easy to tut-tut the overindulgences of the American right. For Canadians, it is practically a birthright. None of our politicians, many of us would like to believe, would dare invoke the Trumpian galaxy of Mexican rapists, or ponder publicly, as the Republican nominee Ben Carson did, that Europe’s Jews would have fared better against Hitler if only the Third Reich hadn’t instituted gun control.

Yet over the last several weeks of an increasingly caustic election campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Canada’s ruling Conservative Party have managed to erase much of our trademark smugness.

Faced with a stalling economy and a corresponding dip in the polls, Mr. Harper had a stroke of luck. The Federal Court of Appeal dismissed his government’s ban on the niqab — the face veil worn as part of the hijab by a small minority of Muslim women — from Canadian citizenship ceremonies.

Rather than accept the ruling, the Conservative government proclaimed its intention to appeal to the Supreme Court, and then took the issue to the hustings. During a recent campaign debate, Mr. Harper declared that he “will never tell my young daughter that a woman should cover her face because she is a woman” — as though his political opponents would do just that, given the chance.

Effectively, Mr. Harper hopes to win his fourth term on Oct. 19 in part by demonizing those few who wear the niqab — and much of Canada’s Muslim population by extension. In one particularly pungent mailing to voters, the Conservative Party suggested that the election of one of Mr. Harper’s opponents would turn the country into a dystopia of high taxes, high unemployment and citizenship ceremonies clogged with covered Muslim faces pledging allegiance to the queen.
