Egypt is reportedly preparing to host another round of talks between the Palestinian factions, including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah faction and the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group.
The stated goal sounds appealing: achieving Palestinian “national unity.”
The real question, however, is: Unity with whom, and against whom?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son was evacuated from the United States after Israeli intelligence received word of an assassination threat.
Yair Netanyahu, 35, moved to Miami, Florida, in 2023, and remained there for most of the war following Hamas’s surprise attack on Oct. 7 of that year. A statement from Shin Bet said he was urgently evacuated after the intelligence agency assessed that there was a “significant threat” to his life, and that he should be quickly returned to Israel.
An institution built around one person, such as the US President Donald J. Trump, carries the expiration date of that person’s term in office. The states that join it do not.
Nothing better explains the conduct of Turkey, Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia over the past eight months — and nothing in current American policy appears to be taking the countless danger signals from them seriously.
The real plan, as can be seen from Saudi Arabia’s recent moves, seems to be to avoid joining the Abraham Accords, and instead position themselves in Gaza, right on the border of Israel, to be able to attack it after Trump leaves office. No one will have his determination to make sure that any agreements are enforced.
The National Association of Christian Lawmakers and its partners asked the administration to direct the State Department and Department of Homeland Security to develop “lawful, secure, and appropriately expedited pathways” for eligible Jewish Canadian nationals and their immediate family members.

The US has issued sanctions against the UK-based direct action organisation Palestine Action, describing it as a “transnational terror group”.
The US Department of the Treasury labelled Palestine Action a specially designated global terrorist on Wednesday, which allows the US to freeze the assets of foreign individuals and entities.
Palestine Action became the first direct action group to be proscribed under the UK’s Terrorism Act in July last year, placing it alongside the likes of Islamic State and Boko Haram. The UK ban is the subject of a legal challenge that will be heard by the UK supreme court in November.
MONTREAL — In early June, Projet Montréal filed a motion calling on the city to suspend institutional ties with Israel and refer to it as an “apartheid state” and a committer of “genocide.” On Monday night, sanity prevailed. The motion passed, but as a watered-down version with those features removed. Pro-Palestinian protesters outside were less than pleased and directed their aggression at those leaving the building, myself included.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims in a phone interview with the pro-government Channel 14 that Iran tried to assassinate one of his two sons.
“Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill, to murder one of my sons,” Netanyahu says, without providing further details.

A new Palestinian political alliance now taking shape should serve as a warning to the United States, Europe, and anyone hoping to see a moderate and peaceful Palestinian leadership emerge after the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led massacre in Israel.
On Saturday’s episode of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the host said the quiet part out loud about his own party’s relationship with Judaism. The exchange came after CNN anchor Dana Bash raised the case of Texas Democrat James Talarico, whose outspoken “Christianity,” she noted, means he “wears his faith on his sleeve” in a way Talarico believes could help him politically. Maher wasn’t buying the idea that all faith gets an equally warm welcome in the Democrat Party.

U.S. prosecutors say a member of Kata’ib Hezbollah told an undercover officer that his people were behind recent shootings at a Toronto synagogue and the U.S. consulate. The pro-Iran Shia militia based in Iraq is not on Canada’s list of terrorist entities.
The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and the Canadian Families of Victims of October 7 want it added, along with Palestine Action Canada and Masar Badil, in a campaign launching Friday on the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.

“What began as a review and investigation into two specific events quickly revealed a broader institutional issue: a deeply polarized campus environment shaped by the aftermath of Oct. 7, 2023, and the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” retired Justice Mary Lou Benotto wrote in her
“The review concludes that the two incidents under review were symptoms of a deteriorating campus climate that, absent decisive institutional action, are likely to recur,” she wrote, referring to an on-campus forum and an off-campus event targeted by student protesters that led to arrests as well as misinformation and outrage on social media.
