The Covid pandemic has shown that this rarely turns out to be true, which can be seen elsewhere too.

There isn’t a blue state and city (along with many red ones) that doesn’t have a “climate mitigation plan” or something similar in place to ward off the imaginary crisis that has generated billions in wealth for ESG capital and for politically connected figures like Al Gore.

The Czech, German and Italian transport ministers aim to gather like-minded counterparts in Brussels on Monday to figure out a way to save the combustion engine from an EU ban in 2035, two diplomats told POLITICO.
Germany — backed by Italy, Poland and Bulgaria — has blocked the final approval of a law that would mandate only zero-emission cars and vans can be sold in the EU from 2035. Berlin wants the European Commission to first put forward an option allowing cars to use synthetic fuels known as e-fuels, but the blockade is leading to broader questions about the whole 2035 measure.
Just before midnight on a Friday in January, a fire tore through a three-story house in East Elmhurst, Queens, injuring 10 people inside and killing a 63-year-old man who was trapped on the second floor. Five days later, on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, another fire broke out in the basement of a house in Forest Hills, Queens, where an unauthorized day care center was housed. Eighteen children were injured, one seriously.
The cause of both fires was rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which power the e-bikes and e-scooters that have become ubiquitous on city streets, according to the New York Fire Department.

BRUSSELS — What was supposed to be an uncontroversial final approval of the EU’s plan to end the sale of new combustion engine cars and vans by 2035 is turning into a nail-biter that could upend the bloc’s effort to slash greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
German Transport Minister Volker Wissing threw out the EU etiquette book and warned Berlin would withhold its support for the final approval of the deal — something that is exceedingly rare once legislation has been negotiated with Parliament and backed by both MEPs and the Council.
An author should be pleased to see his thesis bolstered by events. The green agenda helps China several ways: It saps the West’s economic prosperity and undermines its energy independence, while bolstering China’s economy and strengthening its national security, thereby advancing President Xi Jinping’s geopolitical ambitions.
The Trudeau government has made transport electrification a shining star of industrial policy. Not only is Ottawa willing to pick and choose the technologies of the future, its ready to pick and choose the subsidiary activities needed to bring those electric dreams into reality.

Our electric grids were shaky to begin with. They cover vast distances and are not being properly maintained. But then the Democrats come in with the brilliant idea of spending hundreds of billions on erratic and unreliable wind and solar which then delivers power erratically and puts a further strain on the grids. As the money gets shoveled out the door, unworkable and unfeasible green energy projects go out the door.
