Stupidity is not always painful. Often it can be laughed away with some embarrassment and minimal injury to the victims, allowing life to trundle on. But deep, cavernous stupidity on a national scale is something else. Everyone suffers.
Germany comes to mind – yes, the same country admired for its industrial prowess, green environmental policies and generally rational corporate and political management style.

At first glance it was just another bad day in a rotten week for Olaf Scholz. A week ago the German chancellor travelled to Neuruppin, a small town 40 miles northwest of Berlin, to deliver a routine speech to a sympathetic audience of 300 people or so.
Instead he found himself drowned out by a din of boos and taunts from 300 protesters gathered outside the cordon around the square: “liar”, “piss off”, “traitor to the people”. So far, so normal in today’s Germany.

OTTAWA – As German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is set to arrive in Canada on Sunday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing renewed calls from Ukraine to cancel a permit allowing turbines repaired in Montreal to be sent back to a Russian energy giant.
Scholz, who took over from Angela Merkel in December last year, is expected to land in Montreal on Sunday evening for a three-day visit that also includes scheduled stops in Toronto and Stephenville, N.L.
I suspect Ukraine knows not to trust either of these two green-scammers.
Providing clean hydrogen to Germany and the rest of Europe is a better opportunity for Canada than trying to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals as the world moves away from fossil fuels, said Canada’s natural resources minister late on Thursday.
Canada and Germany are discussing building LNG terminals on the Canadian Atlantic coast within the next five years ahead of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Canadian visit next week. Germany has been trying to wean itself from its dependence on Russian gas since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.
But the costs of transporting gas from Alberta in the Canadian west to the East Coast would be high. A new pipeline would be needed, and the global shift away from fossil fuels means the terminal’s lifetime would be too short to be profitable unless converted into a hydrogen terminal when gas demand declines.
“We’re working through those issues. But what I would say is… on the East Coast, the big opportunity is hydrogen,” Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson told Reuters.

Given its shape, it was nicknamed the “atom egg” and belonged to Munich’s Technical University. It was a landmark in nuclear research and a symbol of a new beginning after WWII. The research reactor operated until 2000.

The “memorandum for action” prepared by Global Affairs recommended Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly grant a permit exempting Siemens Canada from sanctions against Russia and allow it to return the equipment for use in a pipeline carrying gas to Germany.

I’m certain that had no bearing on Trudeau’s decision of course.
But the Ukraine conflict has provided Trudeau’s Liberal party and other like minded Globalist schemers like Germany the perfect excuse to enforce their green-scam.
Had the turbines not been returned it is entirely possible that Germany would have dropped out of the Ukraine alliance due to domestic unrest and all of their green-scam plans would have been overturned. A domino effect would likely follow with other Euro states following Germany’s example creating a near death blow to Globalist ambitions.

And that’s just the beginning of a crisis that will ripple across Europe.
It might still be the height of summer, but Germany has little time to lose to avert an energy shortage this winter that would be unprecedented for a developed nation. Much of Europe is feeling the strain from Russia’s squeeze on natural gas deliveries, yet no other country is as exposed as the region’s biggest economy, where nearly half the homes rely on the fuel for heating.
Some of Germany’s biggest cities are preparing for an energy crunch this winter by shutting off warm water, limiting heat, and switching off lighting.
The German city of Hanover is attempting to reduce its energy consumption by 15%.
Between Oct. 1 and March 31, Hanover’s municipal buildings will not be allowed to be heated to a temperature over 68F. The city has banned the use of mobile air conditioning units and fan heaters.
The citizens of Hanover will be forced to take cold showers at city-run facilities. The German city will cut off hot water in public buildings, swimming pools, and gyms.

Many people in Germany are starting to get unpleasant letters in the mail. Utility companies are passing on the increased costs of gas to their customers. Gas heats more than half of the homes in Germany, and many residents will struggle to pay for it.
Prices have more than doubled since the end of last year, to €0.13 ($0.13) per kilowatt hour. Some suppliers have increased prices even more. Energy giant, Vattenfall, is charging new customers in Berlin €0.25 per kilowatt hour.
Germany has accused Moscow of engaging in “power play” over energy exports, as Russian state-run Gazprom further throttled gas supplies into Europe.
As announced two days earlier, the energy giant on Wednesday reduced the gas flow through Nord Stream 1 to 33m cubic metres a day – about 20% of the pipeline’s total capacity and half the amount it has been delivering since resuming service last week after 10 days of maintenance work.
According to network data from the gas transfer station in Lubmin, north-east Germany, only about 17m kilowatt hours of gas arrived between 8am and 9am, compared with more than 27m kWh between 6am and 7am.
