There’s an old sixteenth century proverb that goes, “Never mention rope in the house of a man who has been hanged.” When it comes to the current state of Erin O’Toole’s shaky relationship with his Conservative caucus, it appears that everything but the hangman’s rope has been accounted for.

“This is not an Andrew Scheer-led movement, it isn’t a so-con movement. The movement to remove Erin O’Toole as leader is as diverse as the Conservative Party itself,” another Conservative MP told True North.

He turned to social media late Monday after a group of his MPs submitted a letter to the party’s caucus chair to hold a leadership review.

The letter, sent to caucus chair Scott Reid on Monday, would require a leadership-review vote by Conservative MPs as early as Wednesday’s regular caucus meeting. If more than 50 per cent of caucus voted against him, Mr. O’Toole would have to step down immediately.
MPs would then have to elect an interim caucus leader while the Conservative Party calls a leadership race. Two sources said at least 63 of the elected 119 Conservative MPs are willing to vote against Mr. O’Toole.

Nothing at all mentioned about being an actual conservative party.
This seems a deliberate “leak” designed to advise that the CPC will continue to ape the LPC and O’Toole will stay as leader.

The freshly scrubbed of all things ‘icky conservative’ party is living its best life with O’Toole as leader. It makes no sense to replace him just as it makes no sense to vote for the CPC if you are a conservative. Find a new home.
