Merry Christmas!

Yay! It’s finally here!

Hope you’re all enjoying yourselves with friends and family.

Pip and I are the 1st ones up. Coffee is brewed, and of course Pip’s breakfast is served, well 1st breakfast has been served.

Soon I’ll be messing about getting Christmas dinner ready, and 2nd and maybe 3rd breakfast for Pip. Look how enthused Pip is! He went back to sleep after his first trip to the breakfast buffet. Says he’ll pitch in later.

On behalf of everyone here at BCF, Sarcasticat, Osumashi, Frau Katze, Jennifer, DB Cooper, Denyse and Pip have yourselves a Very Merry Christmas and may all of your wishes come true.

Remembering a Farm Christmas

Where old and young blended together, and diversity was natural, not conscious.

The pre-1968 decade is often written off today as a quaint, if not toxic world of white male supremacy, replete with homophobia, sexism, and racism, and without the material benefits bequeathed to us by Silicon Valley or the secular enlightenment from higher education. I remember life 60 years ago differently, at least as lived in rural America on a small farm, a 135-acre vineyard and orchard southwest of Fresno. The chief cultural differences from today were family intimacy and proximity. We all lived on the same farm on different corners of our small spread and had no notion of boundaries or space.

“Palestinian” Muslim group warn locals: ‘Celebrating Christmas is evil’

From sea to shining sea, from the river to the sea, the genocidal message of Islam remains the same. This morning Muslim religious leaders in Canada sent the same message. An attack on Christmas celebrations in Karachi were foiled earlier today. Barcelona is on alert after US warns of possible Christmas attack all in the cause of Islam, the religion of peace.

Texas Couple’s Nativity Scene Places Baby Jesus Inside ‘ICE Cage’ To Protest Trump’s Immigration Policies

Katie Naranjo told KTBC they have the cage display in front of their home in Austin, Texas, to represent the immigrant children who were separated from their families. The display features Jesus’s parents, Mary and Joseph, outside of the cage with baby Jesus inside of a cage. Inside the cage behind baby Jesus is the acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Black Santa: Tell a Different Story About Santa This Holiday Season

It is that time of year again: People are dusting off their holiday decorations in order to make their homes and public spaces festive. It is also the time when certain stories and songs are being repeated.

Television holiday shows such as “A Charlie Brown Christmas” are almost iconic, with audiences watching them year after year. And the same is true of holiday songs such as “Jingle Bells,” or “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” that are played at almost all stores.

Throwback Holiday… Dean Martin Christmas Show 1968

Dean Martin Christmas Show 1968? Why not. I baked today in advance prep of tomorrow’s Christmas feast.

Nothing too grand, apple pie, cranberry sauce that sort of thing, that was besides doing an early morning run for all the last minute stuff. We popped into Starsky’s, I like shopping there and a lot of that is because I can’t understand the languages on the labels of their stuff, so it’s kinda like an adventure. They have a great deli section, nice Kolbassa, myriad types of Salami etc. Also a swell little baked goods section. We also hit Global Cheese. K loves cheese, this is like paradise for her.

Tomorrow will be quiet, just Me Sainted Irish Mother, K and I and oh yea Pip, the mooch. Mom no longer travels well at all so we won’t be out and about over the holidays. I’ll be cooking, simpler this year however, going to try a turkey breast concoction with stuffing as opposed to a whole bird. Looks easy enough and cooking time is much shorter – 2 hours compared to a full beasty. All I really have to worry about is the timing of the side dishes. If it comes out as well as the pies I’ll be grateful.

I always liked Dino. Enjoy!
