FUREY: Huawei spat or not, let’s ask why Canada is part of China’s big bank

It’s time to hit back against China as the Huawei spat continues — that’s the message Conservative leader Andrew Scheer delivered to Canadians at a news conference on Monday.

The latest escalation has been China’s rejection of Canadian canola-seed shipments, made on the dubious claim that they come with pests. This has been a major hit to canola farmers, since Chinese shipments accounted for around 40% of what they produced.

Secret list of SNC employees, execs behind illegal donations to federal Liberal Party revealed

A confidential document sent to the Liberal Party of Canada in 2016, and obtained by CBC/Radio-Canada, reveals how top officials at the embattled engineering firm SNC-Lavalin were named in a scheme to illegally influence Canadian elections.

The list of names, compiled in 2016 by federal investigators probing political party donations and leaked to CBC’s The Fifth Estate and Radio-Canada’s Enquête, raises new questions about an agreement by the Commissioner of Canada Elections not to prosecute the company.

The Liberal Party Is Lying: Immigration won’t replace Canada’s aging workforce

Douglas Todd: Immigration won’t replace Canada’s aging workforce

“The question is: Why do we need immigration? Well, five million Canadians are set to retire by 2035. And we have fewer people working to support seniors and retirees,” Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen said recently, echoing the watchwords of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Liberals repeatedly maintain higher immigration will, as Hussen says, “help us to ease the great challenges of the coming years, such as the slowing labour force growth and labour shortages linked to Canada’s aging population.”

But do the minister’s claims check out?

The short answer is: Not really. Leading Canadian economists say the Liberals’ claim that higher immigration levels will offset the aging of Canada’s workforce is, at the least, extremely exaggerated.

The folks pushing Justin’s mass immigration agenda do not give a rat’s ass about you or Canada.

As Vancouver drivers suffer gas-price pain, carbon-tax backers go suspiciously quiet

While British Columbians mutter profanities as they watch gas prices soaring as high as $1.79 a litre, carbon-tax advocates who should be popping champagne are instead quietly avoiding eye contact.

Anyone who wonders if gas prices matter to ordinary people should spend an afternoon watching a busy border crossing. British Columbians are flocking to Washington State to fill up, where, even after the exchange rate, they’re saving about 50 cents per litre.

The crushing of Wilson-Raybould and Philpott is proof Canada is run by a Liberal cabal

It was no coincidence that the current unravelling of the Liberal party was caused by the principled objections regarding SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. by two political newcomers against a concerted attempt to subvert justice.

It is also no coincidence that both were female and both from outside the Quebec-Ottawa power centre that has controlled postwar Canada for generations.

Clearly, they failed to realize the party’s lengthy tenure in Ottawa is based on putting all things Quebec or Liberal above everything else. Instead, they collided with this coven of Liberal civil servants, corporations, media sympathizers, law firms, lobbyists, and caucus colleagues who salute first and never ask questions.

FUREY: Loblaw’s $12 million was the pork barrel spending that pushed us over the edge

It’s hard to believe nobody saw this immense blowback coming. And maybe they did.

Maybe Loblaw’s was more than happy to learn the Liberal government would be giving them $12 million of taxpayer dollars to convert their refrigeration systems in 370 of their stores. After all, who doesn’t like free money?

CBC answers Katie Telford’s Call – Gins Up story complimenting LPC Social Media Blitz On “Right Wing Extremism” – unfortunately CSIS explains Islam still greatest threat

CSIS dealing with right-wing extremism ‘more and more,’ says spy chief

Oops… Vigneault said the main threat concern for intelligence and law enforcement in Canada continues to be violent extremism, often tied to religious beliefs.

“Traditionally, in the last number of years we’ve seen that form of extremism leading to violence being people invoking religion, Islam,” he said.

Don’t you just love how the CBC is an extension of the LPC re-election campaign? Don’t you just love having to pay for this horse-crap?

Liberal Party move to stem surge in asylum seekers a sham – new measure will stop just fraction of claimants

Liberals move to stem surge in asylum seekers – but new measure will stop just fraction of claimants

The Liberal government is taking steps to stop so-called ‘asylum shopping’, but the new provision may turn away only a fraction of the total number of migrants entering Canada outside of legal border crossing points.

Included in the budget implementation bill is a proposed change that would make refugees ineligible to make a claim if they have already done so in another country that the federal government considers ‘safe’ for migrants, and that shares intelligence with Canada. Those so-called ‘Five Eyes’ security partner countries are the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Terence Corcoran: The Liberals manipulate a climate report to justify handouts to Loblaws

In a huge coincidence last week, Environment Minister Catherine McKenna leaked — to the CBC — her department’s latest official climate change report on the very same day her government’s new carbon-tax regime came into effect in four provinces.

The government-owned flagship news program, The National, sprang to attention. Host Rosemary Barton kicked off the Monday night show by cranking up the volume on “Canada’s Changing Climate Report” from Environment Canada scientists…

Fighting climate change, one refrigerator subsidy at a time

If a family has to buy a new refrigerator because the carbon tax makes the power bill more expensive, that’s success in Ottawa’s view, even if it’s tough for that family.

But the rules are different for big business.

On Apr. 1, the federal carbon tax kicked in for Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan. The tax will add 4.4 cents per litre to the price of gasoline – rising to 11 cents by 2022 – and drive up the cost of everything from home heating to groceries.

WARMINGTON: $12M Loblaw climate-change grant offensive #cdnpoli

It is safe to say the climate is heating up in Ottawa — and there’s no debate about that.

Just one day after Loblaw Companies Ltd. received a commitment from the Liberal government for up to $12 million to make it’s refrigeration systems more climate-friendly, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is urging the grocery giant not to accept it.

Former SNC-Lavalin CEO rejects allegations firm paid bribes with EDC money… they found it in a paper bag, in the freezer

The former CEO of SNC-Lavalin has lashed out at allegations made by an unnamed company insider, denying taxpayer-backed loans from Canada were ever used to pay bribes under his watch.

“People who talk behind the scenes — they are just chicken,” said Jacques Lamarre in an interview with CBC News.

CBC News is not naming the SNC-Lavalin insider, who worked on numerous EDC-backed projects, as he fears for his job.

Why did Jody Wilson-Raybould have to go? Because: white nationalists.

…“Dear Media looking for a scandal. I’ve got a good one for you. Endless material. And it’s causing real destruction, in real time, in real lives. Our democracy is even at stake. It’s hidden in plain sight. Just go at it. It’s called White Nationalism. You are welcome for the tip.”

Perhaps Keesmat’s point was only that there were other important stories for media to cover. But given the high pitch of the message, and the hyper-partisan calls in other corners to change the channel from SNC-Lavalin, her tweet almost seemed to suggest that anyone talking about corruption, or the importance of a free judiciary, or the gross mistreatment of a principled senior official trying to do her job, must be apathetic—perhaps even sympathetic—to white nationalism. (I can say with confidence this isn’t true.) Another tweet that made the rounds summed up interest in JWR and SNC-Lavalin as the preoccupation of “#MiddleAgedWhiteMen.”

Why Is Justin Trudeau Protecting These Crooks? SNC-Lavalin May Have Used Tax Payer Money For Bribes

SNC-Lavalin insider’s bribery allegations spark probe by Crown agency that loaned the firm billions

Export Development Canada has hired outside legal counsel to review some of its dealings with SNC-Lavalin. The review comes after a company insider told CBC News the engineering giant secured billions in loans from the Crown agency over the years, some of which he alleges was intended to pay bribes.

If true, it could mean taxpayers have unwittingly backed illegal payments.

Export Development Canada is a federal agency that provides financing and insurance to Canadian businesses operating abroad.
