Kamala Harris’s Life in Canada Was Marked by a Yearning for Home

While campaigning this past week, Senator JD Vance of Ohio called Vice President Kamala Harris a “phony” who “grew up in Canada,” as former President Donald J. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, continued raising false and incendiary questions about the presumed Democratic nominee’s racial identity.

“Kamala Harris grew up in Canada,” Mr. Vance said during a campaign stop in Arizona on Wednesday. “They don’t talk like that in Vancouver or Quebec or wherever she came from.”

Kamala is a proven liar. She was a self declared Indian until being Black was better even suddenly acquiring a “Black accent” at her recent Atlanta embarrassment.

I think the author is hoping for a BJ.

During the first few centuries of the Industrial Revolution, the foundation of Canada and the US was established by the determination of hardy souls from many parts of the world plagued by poverty, lack of freedom, discrimination, and limited prospects. Our current demographic problem — the combination of aging boomers and declining birth rates — still makes immigration critical to the economic wellbeing of most developed countries.

Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party remains in the lead, 18 points ahead of Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party. If a federal election were to be held today, 41% of Canadians would vote for the Conservative Party of Canada, while 23% would vote for Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party. The Liberals experienced a 4-point decrease in July, placing the party only slightly ahead of the NDP who are at 20% of decided voter support. It would appear the negative media commentary stemming from the St. Paul by-election loss had an impact on Liberal fortunes.

Lyons, who is also a former ambassador to Israel, was responding to a recent wave of vandalism and threats to Jewish schools, businesses, and synagogues.

Mounties have seized a number of guns after video surfaced online showing a group of people “dancing with firearms” at a celebration in Surrey.

Surrey RCMP said they became aware of the video circulating on social media Thursday morning.

“It appears from the video that this is some sort of pre-wedding event,” Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha told CTV News in an email on Friday.

Lara Salameh was supposed to be flying out of Beirut Thursday en route to Montreal with her husband and two daughters, but the night before, their flight was cancelled.

She said Air France told her service out of the Lebanese capital was suspended because of the unstable security situation — one that Ottawa has been warning Canadians about as fears of war between Israel and Hezbollah grow.

Salameh is one of the 21,399 Canadians registered as being in Lebanon, a country the Canadian government is urging its citizens to leave. It says they can’t rely on government evacuation flights if war engulfs Lebanon.
