California has delayed its cancellation of thousands of commercial driver’s licenses held by migrants, setting it up for another showdown with Washington.
The Department of Motor Vehicles announced on Tuesday that the 17,000 migrant truck drivers whose licenses had been revoked can now keep them for 60 more days, which could enable the drivers to retake tests and do whatever is necessary to remain legal.
Asylum seekers should be required to wear electronic tags so their movements can be tracked, a policing chief has proposed.
Katy Bourne, Sussex’s police and crime commissioner (PCC), said the move would act as a deterrent to any potential criminal activity. It could also give migrants “greater freedom” to travel further from holding centres and help them get temporary jobs.

A group of 19 undocumented migrants of Haitian origin was arrested Thursday night near Havelock in Quebec’s Montérégie region.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that the group, with ages ranging from one to 60, was apprehended after they allegedly illegally crossed from the United States into Canada.
The breach was reported to the RCMP by the United States Border Patrol (USBP) shortly before 6 p.m.

Germany has deported a Syrian criminal to his home country for the first time in more than a decade, marking the country’s first such return since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011.

Brussels is experiencing a sharp rise in violence, with multiple explosions and shootings reported over just five days in the Saint-Gilles municipality. The latest incident occurred on Wednesday evening on Rue du Céleri, near Place de Bethléem—a known hotspot for drug activity. Authorities confirmed that the street was cordoned off and that only material damage occurred. The Belgian army’s bomb disposal unit (DOVO) and police attended the scene, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the explosion.
