Just the Beginning: Ten Afghan Evacuees Detained as National Security Risks

The Biden administration is giving America gifts that will keep on giving for generations to come, and one of the foremost of these gifts is the newly-arrived group of Afghan evacuees: 70,000 are now in the U.S., and the total number is expected to exceed 124,000 before long. One of Biden’s handlers, unnamed in a Wednesday Wall Street Journal report, has admitted that ten of these evacuees have already been detained as risks to national security. Only ten out of 70,000 isn’t bad, right? Sure. But Biden’s handlers’ catastrophic mishandling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan makes it virtually certain that there will be many more.

The Taliban’s secretive war against ISIS

Every few days, bodies are dumped on the outskirts of the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.

Some have been shot or hanged, some beheaded. Many have handwritten notes stuffed into their pockets, accusing them of being members of Afghanistan’s branch of the Islamic State.

No-one claims responsibility for the gruesome, extra-judicial killings, but the Taliban are widely assumed to be responsible. IS carried out a suicide bombing in August outside Kabul airport that killed more than 150 people, and is a fierce rival of the Taliban. The two groups are now engaged in a murky and bloody battle. Jalalabad is the frontline.

Fleeing Afghanistan: ‘Women are imprisoned, while the criminals are free’

Close to midnight, the phone rang. With the pick-up location confirmed, it was time to leave.

Dressed in a full-length black chador, Judge Sana stepped into the street, her two young children hovering by her side. Each of them was carrying a single bag, stuffed with two sets of clothes, a passport, phone, cash, and as much food as they could carry for the journey ahead.

“When we left we didn’t know where we were going,” Sana recalled. “We were told there would be security risks on the way, but we accepted them all because we knew this was the only way out.”

“The Basic Message Is Hatred”: The Persecution of Christians, September 2021

Afghanistan: Muslims linked to the Islamic State murdered four Christians. While trying to escape the country, a Christian family was intercepted by the jihadists. According to a local source:

“ISIS asked them, ‘we have tape about you that you are no longer Muslims. So is it true that you are not Muslim?’ They said, ‘Yes, we are not Muslims anymore. We are Christians.’ So the men of this family were killed at the spot. The children and women, they let them go.”

Also and in keeping with what several international human rights groups are warning, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wrote an article in which he expressed his concern that a “genocide” of Christians is brewing in Afghanistan…

Taliban promise cash, land, to families of suicide bombers

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Taliban have promised plots of land to relatives of suicide bombers who attacked U.S. and Afghan soldiers, in a provocative gesture that seems to run counter to their efforts to court international support.

The Taliban’s acting interior minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani, offered the reward to dozens of family members of bombers gathered at a Kabul hotel, Interior Ministry spokesman Saeed Khosty tweeted on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering Monday evening, Haqqani praised the sacrifices of “martyrs and fedayeen,” referring to fighters killed in suicide attacks, Khosty tweeted. Haqqani called them “heroes of Islam and the country,” according to the spokesman. At the end of the meeting, he distributed 10,000 afghanis ($112) per family and promised each a plot of land.

Afghanistan: Taliban road construction projects stall without foreign funding

One day after the last US forces left Afghanistan in August, Taliban official Inamullah Samangani said in a speech that the war was over and that the Taliban would now have to focus on rebuilding Afghanistan’s economy. It looks like road construction is where the group has decided to begin.

Since then, the Taliban have announced several road construction projects. These include the route from Kabul to Maidan Shahr, the capital of nearby Wardak Province, in Gardez, the capital of Paktia to the east, and projects in the provinces of Kunar and Logar.

Afghanistan Needs Aid, But What About All the Money Afghan Officials Have Stolen?

The new government of Afghanistan, run by the Muslim fanatics of the Taliban, has called on international donors to rescue the country from a “dire” situation. The world should urgently provide promised aid to Afghanistan, the UN refugee agency said on Saturday, warning that a lack of resources is hampering efforts to avert an economic crisis that could push fresh flows of refugees to its neighbors and beyond.

But why is there a lack of resources, given that the Americans plowed more than a trillion dollars into the Afghan economy over two decades? What happed to all that money?

Humanitarian Aid for Barbarians

It the height of delusion to give the Taliban “humanitarian” aid. If anyone deserves our support in Afghanistan, it is Ahmad Massoud.

Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan on August 15, there has been very little news about the hundreds of American civilians abandoned by President Joe Biden to the mercies of the Taliban and al-Qaeda. One report last week said that about one hundred of those Americans had been flown out to Qatar, but there is no confirmation of that report.

U.S. offers condolence payments to families of civilians killed in Kabul air strike

The Pentagon has offered unspecified payments as a condolence to the families of 10 Afghan civilians, including seven children, who were killed in an Aug. 29 U.S. drone strike in Kabul.

The White House is turning the page and closing the door.” Wilcox said this after a bipartisan delegation from the House, including some members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was denied admission to Camp As Sayliyah, a U.S.-run military facility in Qatar where over two thousand America-bound Afghan evacuees are currently being housed. The reason why became clear in the briefing the lawmakers received before they were turned away.

Afghanistan: Suicide attack kills 37 at Kandahar mosque during prayers

At least 37 people are dead and 70 more injured after three explosions tore through a Shia mosque during Friday prayers in the Afghan city of Kandahar.

Pictures from inside the Bibi Fatima mosque show shattered windows and bodies lying on the ground, while other worshippers try to help.

The BBC has been told it was a suicide bombing.

A local reporter quoted by Reuters news agency said eyewitnesses described three suicide attackers.

Muslim foreign ministers to make women’s rights plea to Taliban

Foreign ministers from several Muslim-majority countries are planning to go to Kabul in part to urge the Taliban to recognise that the exclusion of women and girls from education is a distortion of the Islamic faith.

The proposal has the support of western diplomats, who recognise that calls from them concerning universal values are going to have less traction with the Taliban than if the request comes from leaders of largely Islamic states.

Chinese Hackers Breached Afghan Telecom Company As US Withdrew

Breach could give China access to ‘hugely valuable’ user information

Chinese hackers breached a major Afghan telecommunications company as the United States withdrew from Afghanistan, an early sign of Beijing’s attempt to gain a foothold in the country.

At least two China-backed hackers breached Afghan telecommunications giant Roshan earlier this year, according to a report from the Insikt Group, a cybersecurity research firm. Hacking groups ramped up their efforts in August and September, as U.S. troops began leaving the country. The breach could give China access to “hugely valuable” information about the network itself and high-value individuals who use it, the researchers said.

ISIS, the original one, started out as Al Qaeda in Iraq. But it broke from Osama bin Laden and the Al Qaeda leadership in Afghanistan\Pakistan by unrelentingly targeting Shiites in Iraq over and above even the United States.
