Belarus Floods EU with Migrants from Middle East

Thousands of migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East are pouring into the European Union from Belarus, a landlocked country in Eastern Europe. The surge in illegal immigration is being orchestrated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is accused of trying to blackmail the EU into reversing the sanctions it imposed over his disputed reelection and a crackdown on dissent.

Many of the migrants are being flown to Belarus from the Middle East and then bussed to EU borders by Belarusian authorities. The trips are being organized by Belarus’s state-owned tourism agency, which charges migrants between $1,800 to $12,000.

Hundreds March in Downtown Toronto to Protest Against Vaccine Passport Mandates

Several hundred people rallied in downtown Toronto on Saturday to voice their opposition to the vaccine mandates rolled out in Ontario this week.

The crowd set off from Queen’s Park and marched through downtown to protest the new proof-of-vaccination certificates announced by Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Sept. 1. People will need to provide proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access non-essential services such as restaurants, bars, gyms, and other indoor facilities starting Sept. 22.

Harry and Meghan sink to all-time low in UK ‘favorability’ rating

And just in time for fall sweeps!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “favorability” rating has fallen to a new record low, according to pollsters YouGov.

According to the group, which queried 1,667 UK adults ranging in age from teens to seniors, Markle is liked by 26 percent of the British population and disliked by 65 percent, which squares to a net approval rating of –39 percent.

Charles ain’t exactly loved either according to the poll.

California woman in Kabul says Taliban ‘hunting’ for Americans in Afghanistan

A pregnant woman from California who is stranded in Afghanistan said the Taliban is “hunting” Americans now that the US military has withdrawn from the country​.​

The woman, identified by her first name, Nasria, to protect her from reprisals, is among the up to 200 Americans still trapped in Afghanistan.

“There’s been days, you know, where I think to myself, ‘Am I going to make it home? Am I going to end up living here? Am I going to end up dying here?​’​” Nasria ​told Voice of America in an interview recorded on Friday. ​

WASHINGTON — The top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee says some Americans who have been trying to get out of Afghanistan since the U.S. military left are sitting in airplanes at an airport ready to leave but the Taliban are not letting them take off.

Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas says there are six airplanes at the Mazar-e-Sharif airport with American citizens on board, along with their Afghan interpreters, and the Taliban are “holding them hostage” right now.

I bet all the right people are shocked at this development.

Afghanistan: Taliban accused of murdering female police officer … Taliban promises to investigate

Taliban militants in Afghanistan have shot dead a policewoman in a provincial city, relatives have told the BBC.

The woman, named in local media as Banu Negar, was killed at the family home in front of relatives in Firozkoh, the capital of central Ghor province.

The killing comes amid increasing reports of escalating repression of women in Afghanistan.

The BBC has asked Taliban authorities for comment. The local Taliban promised to investigate, the family says.

Slim majority of Canadians open to paying more to help cut Canada’s emissions, poll shows

A narrow majority of Canadians are open to paying more to help Canada cut its greenhouse gas emissions, according to a new poll from Nanos Research.

The survey comes amid a federal election campaign in which, for the first time in more than a decade, all of the major parties are proposing some form of a price on carbon as part of their election platform. But the level of the carbon price, how it is rebated back to Canadians and the stringency of emissions-reduction targets vary widely between the Liberals, Conservatives, NDP and Green Party.

Overall, the poll shows that 27 per cent of Canadians are willing to pay more in areas like taxes and the price of gas to help the country hit its emissions targets. A further 27 per cent said they were somewhat willing to pay more. However, 30 per cent said they were not willing to pay more, 14 per cent said they were somewhat unwilling and two per cent said they were unsure.

I don’t have a lot of faith in this poll, it’s a hybrid telephone/online sample. People tell pollsters what they think they want to hear and online polls are meaningless.

The poll consisted of a hybrid telephone and online random survey of 1,029 Canadians. The results were gathered between Aug. 28 and 30. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

Climate ‘crisis’ more dangerous than terrorism? Get real, Biden

The resurgence of Taliban is now expected to pose a serious threat to U.S. and global security.  Thirteen U.S. servicemen and nearly 200 Afghans were already killed in blasts outside Kabul Airport on August 26, 2021.  Yet President Biden says the biggest threat to the U.S. is a climate that has been undergoing naturally driven makeovers for eons.

“This is not a joke,” said Biden.  “You know what the Joint Chiefs told us the greatest physical threat facing America was?  Global warming.”

Accounts, as fabulous as fairy tales, circulated of the corruption of people like CAR’s “emperor,” Jean Bedel Bokassa, who profited from his country’s diamonds and uranium, and the Nepali royal family – headed by a man Hindus worshipped as a god-king – that had allegedly been trafficking heroin since the 1960s.”

The transgender delusion

Shon Faye is a man who believes he is a woman. He is wholly convinced that, while he might have reached ‘womanhood’ via a different method to, say, my mother, he is as much a woman as she is. I think he is mistaken. In fact, I think he is deluded. In my view, as sincerely held as Faye’s, a male who undergoes castrative surgery or hormonal treatment no more becomes a woman than a man who chops off his ear becomes Vincent van Gogh. I say this not to be insulting but rather to draw attention to one of the key moral dilemmas of the transgender issue – the question of whose beliefs should enjoy precedence at the social and legal level.

In the words of SIGAR Special Inspector John Sopko, the West “poured in too much money, too quickly and above all with too little control”, which allowed warlords and local bosses to become extremely rich.

The Taliban takeover that followed the ignominious US-led retreat; the ouster of the West-backed government has spurred a re-evaluation of overseas aid to Afghanistan, its extent and placement.

Several experts have argued that the lack of control over aid to Afghanistan may have actually exacerbated the situation in the war-torn country.

The Biden administration has pulled off a military-political defeat that gets worse the more you look at it

It was quite the handover at Kabul airport this week. The last American troops to exit Afghanistan reportedly left facing an ‘elite unit’ of the Taliban. In a season finale that the most dystopian screenwriter would have struggled to invent, the elite Taliban unit was itself bedecked in US military kit. That is, they were not only wearing uniforms and protective kit provided by the fleeing US army, but were parading the airport with US-provided guns in US-provided vehicles.

The Progressive Insanity of Norwegian State Television

A double dose of agitprop.

Living in Norway, I’m compelled to cough up cash every year to fund NRK, the state-run media entity whose many TV channels and radio stations, funded to the tune of a billion dollars a year (in a country of five million people), proffer massive daily doses of its own pro-welfare state, pro-immigration, pro-Islam agitprop (critics call the network ARK, for “Labor Party Broadcasting”) as well as imported material that also serves its own propaganda purposes. I rarely watch NRK, but I did put it on last Thursday night to watch a live “town hall” in which the three leading candidates for prime minister — national elections are scheduled for September 13 — took questions from a studio audience in Trondheim.

Boy does this sound familiar.
