Charlie Kirk was killed because his words were more powerful than bullets. I was going to put up my first post on this blog in a very long time today until the news of his assassination broke. Instead, I need to say this…

A man has been arrested after police spotted him driving what appears to be a Power Wheels Barbie Jeep Wrangler in morning rush hour traffic. According to a report by the Prince George Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the man was intoxicated and had a suspended license.

The man accused of attempting to assassinate President Trump at his golf course in Florida last year was silenced by a judge as he gave his opening statement at trial.
Ryan Routh is representing himself at the trial in Fort Pierce, Florida, after dismissing his two public defenders. He has pleaded not guilty to five charges, including attempting to kill a presidential candidate, being a felon in possession of a firearm and assaulting a federal officer.

Progressive “harm reduction” advocates have insisted for decades that active users should take a central role in crafting drug policy. While this belief is profoundly reckless—akin to letting drunk drivers set traffic laws—it is now entrenched in many left-leaning jurisdictions. The harms and absurdities of the position cannot be understated.
While the harm-reduction movement is best known for championing public-health interventions that supposedly minimize the negative effects of drug use, it also has a “social justice” component. In this context, harm reduction tries to redefine addicts as a persecuted minority and illicit drug use as a human right.

America is on fire now over a shocking murder on a tram in Charlotte, North Carolina. A young Ukrainian refugee, Iryna Zarutska, took a seat on the tram in front of a large, hooded black man, Decarlos Brown. After a few moments, Brown took a knife from his pocket, leapt up, and slashed helpless Zarutska in the neck. Brown, a schizophrenic with 14 criminal convictions on his record, staggered off muttering, “I got the white girl.”
Zarutska bled to death on the floor of the train, in full view of others, who did nothing to help her. At last someone—a black man, note well—ran to her aid and tried to stanch the bleeding, but it was too late. She was pronounced dead by emergency personnel when they arrived.

By law, the Central Intelligence Agency isn’t allowed to operate domestically in the United States. But that reassuring civic factoid has long come with a big asterisk: going back to its earliest years, the agency has, in fact, interfered in homeland affairs to combat dissident movements (historically, from the Left), to defend its institutional prerogatives — and, increasingly, to recruit assets among the financial elite.

The reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk has been almost as brutal and disturbing as the slaying itself.
One Canadian journalist took to social media to say it was “delicious” to see Charlie Kirk shot and killed with a gun.
A new video released by the FBI shows the still-at-large person of interest in Charlie Kirk’s assassination leaping off his rooftop sniper’s den and dashing away minutes after shooting the conservative activist dead Wednesday.
The clip from the Utah Valley University campus was shared by the Bureau and the Utah Department of Public Safety during a press conference Thursday night in which officials gave no new updates on any relevant leads or arrests.
Students at the University of Nebraska threw a man into a fountain for holding a sign saying “Charlie deserved it”, referring to Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

According to Radio-Canada (the CBC’s French-language service) Prime Minister Mark Carney will not include an oil pipeline in his list of national priority projects to be released Thursday. Radio-Canada says three sources with knowledge of the list have confirmed the Liberals’ decision.
Well, so much for Canada becoming an energy superpower, as Carney has promised repeatedly. That’s not going to happen without at least one, and likely two, pipelines to go east and west to new export terminals.
