The US media’s big lie about Charlie Kirk is chillingly predictable

“Elinor agreed to it all, for she did not think he deserved the compliment of rational opposition.” – Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility

Austen’s heroine, Elinor Dashwood, was listening to a relative talk rubbish she felt wasn’t worth her time to rebut. These days, it seems difficult to convince anyone to change their mind, so many of us have simply given up and retreated to our bubbles of friends and friendly media.

Charlie Kirk, however, was willing to talk to anyone. His signature event was an open-mic debate with all comers on the campus of an American university, nearly all of which are dominated by Left-wing group-think.

Say it ain’t so Jimmy!

Nolte: Unrepentant Jimmy Kimmel Reportedly ‘F**king Livid,’ Eager to Break ABC Contract

Reports are surfacing that former comedian Jimmy Kimmel is “fucking livid” over the suspension of his basement-rated late-night show, a suspension that will likely turn into cancellation.

Kimmel is also talking about — tee hee — breaking his contract with ABC.

… ABC/Disney cancelled Roseanne Barr, Tim Allen, and Gina Carano over much less.

As has been speculated Kimmel’s employers were happy to have been provided an excuse to wash their hands of a ratings disaster.

Ukrainians who fled to Canada in limbo as permits and passports expire

Ukrainians who fled war in their country for safety in Canada now find themselves in a bureaucratic bind, as many encounter delays in renewing Canadian study and work permits, and face obstacles to renewing their Ukrainian passports.

Almost 300,000 Ukrainians came to Canada after Russia invaded Ukraine in February, 2022, under a program allowing an unlimited number of Ukrainian fleeing the war to work, study and stay in Canada for up to three years.

… But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated to Ottawa that his government would like Ukrainians who fled here to go back and help rebuild.

Talk vs. Reality: Millions of Migrants Still Jobless in Europe

Cultural traditions, poor language skills, and education gaps continue to block integration efforts.

More than seven million migrants remain outside the European Union’s labour market, despite the liberal political class’ insistence that the millions of migrant arrivals in recent decades would benefit Europe.

According to the European Commission’s latest Employment and Social Developments in Europe (ESDE) report, the unemployment rate among migrants is double that of the EU average: 11.8% compared to 5.9%.

Migrants are also the most exposed to poverty, with 38% living at risk.

40 Percent of Canadian Youth Say Jobs a Major Concern: Poll

Nearly 40 percent of Canadian youth say unemployment is their top concern, according to a new poll.

The survey was conducted by the Angus Reid Institute. It found that nearly two in five of those between 18 years and 24 years (37 percent) said jobs and unemployment was the top issue facing the country.

That is up 9 percentage points from June (28 percent) and nearly double from Decemeber 2024 (18 percent).

Afraid to speak: Canada’s quiet majority is biting its tongue

The assassination of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University is a brutal reminder that politics across North America is running hot. We grieve the loss of life. We also ought to ask what this political climate is doing to regular Canadians — because many are now scared to say what they think, especially when they believe they’re in the minority.

It’s Deeper Than Mental Illness

Maybe you spent time last week perusing X postings related to Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Aside from the many accolades, conservative influencers did fine jobs identifying left-wingers who not only celebrated Kirk’s assassination, but offered attaboys to Tyler Robinson, the triggerman. Some even called for more violence. If you didn’t have time earlier, scroll through the Libs of TikTok’s and the Vigilant Fox’s threads, for starters. You’ll get an eyeful. “Somebody had to do it” wasn’t an uncommon refrain. Who, this side of hell, delights in an act of murder?

And the media …

Charlie’s death reveals media’s worst

Originally, today’s newsletter was supposed to be about cartoonist Chip Bok screwing up with his political cartoon about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. My goodness you don’t depict a man having his head blown off.

I will get to that later in the newsletter, but Jimmy Kimmel had to make an ass of himself by mocking the reaction of MAGA and President Trump to Charlie’s death.

How bad was it, Donnie?

Mark Carney’s vaporous narcissism

Carney speaks at a Muslim Brotherhood function

With Parliament resuming after a long hiatus, people are wondering whether Prime Minister Mark Carney will finally start keeping his promises. No, of course not. Have you ever really listened to the man talk?

If so, and it’s remarkable how many people including journalists seem not to have tried hard, it’s very troubling. It’s not easy given his soothing, even soporific way of saying nothing deceitfully. But his habit of fudging details while soaring into cosmic incoherence on the big picture and erupting if questioned is no recipe for competent government let alone the transformative kind.

‘Anti-racism became a self-help fad for liberal whites’

The murder of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in May 2020 proved to be an inflection point in American life. Against the backdrop of a global pandemic and the Trump presidency, racial identity politics exploded into the mainstream. This was the summer of Black Lives Matter marches and protests. A summer in which BLM-branded ‘wokeness’ took hold of liberal America and arguably never really let go.

6 Times Leftists Melting Down Over Jimmy Kimmel Were Happy To Deny Conservatives ‘Free Speech’

ABC News pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air on Wednesday. Not for being painfully unfunny, and not even for having an opinion. No, Kimmel got yanked because he flat-out lied and claimed: “the MAGA gang desperately [is] trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

It was a pure lie. Following widespread criticism, Nextstar Media Group said its ABC affiliate stations would not run Kimmel’s show over the comments.
