We can’t know exactly why Ontario Superior Court Justice Heather McArthur decided on Thursday to uphold bail for a man accused of shooting up the U.S. Consulate in Toronto, but her reasons can’t make much sense. Perhaps she was compelled by some kind of sob story, or perhaps she convinced herself that whatever stern warning she gave against disobeying bail conditions would resonate with the alleged gun-for-hire. Who knows; that’s all covered by a publication ban.

According to a new explosive report by the acclaimed international organization NGO Monitor: Dream on.

New York law requires hairdressers to learn how to work with all hair types
As of 1 September, a new law in New York state requires hairdressers studying cosmetology to be trained to work with all hair types.
“This is about equal access to service,” assembly member Michaelle Solages, who sponsored the law, said in a statement earlier this year. “No New Yorker should ever walk into a salon and be turned away or receive substandard care because of their hair texture. Now, with the adoption of this legislation, they won’t have to.”
The law, signed by Kathy Hochul, New York’s governor, requires cosmetology and natural hair styling classes to include instruction on hair types from the kinkiest to the straightest. Additionally, the new training will require students to learn about hair and scalp properties, hair care and styling techniques associated with textured hair.
Canada’s counter-tariffs are expected to raise prices. Should you buy products ASAP?
As Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. are set to take effect next week, many consumers are anxious about the impact of the surtaxes on affected items.
Experts like Ian Lee, an associate professor at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business in Ottawa, said the federal government’s counter-tariffs will make American items pricier for Canadians.
“If they’re planning on buying them anyways, they should probably buy them before Sept. 8,” Lee said in a video interview with CTVNews.ca on Monday.

America’s Small Towns Are Being Attacked
Over the summer, a coordinated cyberattack targeted operational technology at more than 30 community water systems in Minnesota. The FBI later reported similar incidents in at least seven states. The ramifications were significant enough for Congress to get involved, prompting the introduction of the “Water Cyber Shield Act” last week, which would increase cybersecurity funding and empower the EPA to help prevent future attacks on water infrastructure.
Marty York: Lawyers bid to block TMU law grads from practicing in Ontario
The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation (CAEF) is asking lawyers to sign a petition in hopes of persuading the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) to hear a motion in mid-September that could ultimately prevent graduates of Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) law school from ever practicing law in the province.
Hunter Biden Comes Out As ‘a Little Bit’ Gay
Hunter Biden has a big announcement, and no, it’s not about a sold painting or getting sober again.
The black sheep son of former President-ish Joe Biden appeared on a recent episode of the Luke Beasley Show, whatever that is, and came out as gay.

LILLEY: Trade wars aren’t won by matching punch for punch, Carney’s rhetoric has a price
“You’re at war when you get attacked. We got attacked,” Mark Carney said after trade talks collapsed and the United States imposed more tariffs on us.
His words caught the mood of the country. Patriotic. Defiant. And ultimately, a cover for a bad policy.
Charlie Kirk Assassination Suspect Tyler Robinson Faces Potential Death Penalty as Case Heads for Trial
The 23-year-old suspect charged with the murder of Charlie Kirk last year is to stand trial, a Utah judge ruled Tuesday. Defendant Tyler Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted.

Trump is winning his war for oil while the whole world roots against him
President Donald Trump’s supposed weekslong war on Iran has now trudged into months, but while it’s hard to say whether he’s winning his war over the country’s suicidal dictatorship, it’s becoming increasingly clear that, against all odds and a concerted, anti-American psy-op, the White House is winning its war for oil independence.
In a narrative-defying note to investors, analysts at Goldman Sachs last week reported that oil flows through the Persian Gulf have risen to two-thirds of their pre-war levels, with 8 million to 10 million barrels per day of oil specifically transiting the Strait of Hormuz and another 7 to 8 million bpd circumventing the strait through U.S. Navy escorts, the Saudi East-West pipeline, and the UAE’s Fujairah pipeline. All in all, total oil and gas transit is up to 15 to 16 million bpd versus the March nadir of just 5 to 6 million bpd.
Venezuela’s oil fields will reportedly require an investment in the billions to rehabilitate neglected infrastructure. A decrease in the price at the pump is unlikely for some time.
‘Inclusive’ hiring has damaged Canadian research output: report
Canadian mandates on race-based hiring quotas in academia have done measurable damage to the country’s research productivity, according to a new report by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.
Ever since 2017, Canadian universities have been subject to strict identity-based hiring quotas as a condition of receiving federal research funding.
Victor Davis Hanson: Canada Wants a Fight It Can’t Afford
Canada’s growing confrontation with the United States is about much more than just tariffs. Trade imbalances, Chinese goods entering the American market through Canada, taxes on U.S. companies, and Mark Carney’s political strategy have pushed relations with Washington to a new low.
At the same time, Canada faces weak economic growth, enormous immigration pressures, separatist movements in Alberta and Quebec, and continued dependence on the United States for its defense. Picking a fight with America will not solve those problems.
Carney lying? Say it ain’t so! This is an evisceration of Carney and sadly Canada.
Sorry Elbow people but the Liberals are worse than Trump.

Why are homeless shelters violent?
Hint: The architecture is not to blame. But, according to the advocates, that violence makes it unjust to require vagrants to get off the streets.
