Miranda Devine: The left is pushing another desperate anti-Trump hoax – a false Epstein smear campaign

The party that cries wolf is at it again.

Democrats are back in Congress after their shutdown to launch another anti-Trump hoax.

This time, it’s not a fictional “pee tape” but the old Epstein horse they keep flogging.

On Wednesday, House Oversight Committee Democrats selectively released three emails among 23,000 handed over by the estate of the late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein to try to implicate Donald Trump, yet again, in Epstein’s sexual abuse of underage girls.

GUNTER: Some merit to enlisting civil servants as reservists to boost Armed Forces

CAF has contracted with Maduro’s Volkssturm for training

The federal Liberals want to increase the size of Canada’s military reserves by 10-fold to nearly 300,000 from just under 30,000. And one of the Department of National Defence’s (DND) primary methods for achieving that goal is to encourage more enlistment into the part-time Armed Forces by federal and provincial civil servants.

Climate Alarmist Nonsense Comes Full-Circle With Threat of ‘New Ice Age’

One of the huge bonuses to having racked up a significant number of years in life is that one gets an amazing perspective on things. For example, I’ve been through a number of dire apocalyptic warnings. When I was a kid, global cooling and a new ice age were going to bring down the curtain on Mother Earth within 40 years. Before the ice had a chance to show up, fears of overpopulation were being spread. Widespread famine was going to do us in.

Carney bets on more critical minerals mining, electricity and liquified natural gas in latest batch of major projects

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Thursday that his government is sending more critical minerals mining, clean electricity, and a liquefied natural gas project to a new federal office designed to streamline the regulatory approvals process.

Speaking in Terrance, B.C., he announced that six more projects would be forwarded to the Major Projects Office, saying they met the government’s criteria of what constituted “nation-building” efforts to spur development and attract billions more in private investment, which the prime minister said would lead to new jobs.

Antifa groups designated foreign terror organizations for first time

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is moving to designate four violent left-wing groups based in Europe as either foreign terrorist organizations or specifically designated global terrorists as part of a broad crackdown on extremism.

US State Department officials announced the intended designation on Thursday, saying the Antifa groups — Antifa Ost, the International Revolutionary Front, Armed Proletarian Justice, and Revolutionary Class Self Defense — “use force against those they identify as opponents of their Marxist and anarchist projects.”

Derek Finkle: Even injection site workers now admit drug dealing was rampant

The province of Ontario did something last month it has never done before — it defunded a supervised injection site because the chaos and disorder it was causing had reached unacceptable levels for the surrounding neighbours.

The injection site is in Parkdale, a neighbourhood on the west side of Toronto. The community’s efforts to get the province to act were detailed in my previous column at the beginning of October. Ontario Health Minister Sylvia Jones was simply unable to ignore the mountain of photographic evidence featuring prostrate bodies next to piles of used needles as known drug dealers operated nearby.

100+ Babies Referred to UK‘s De-Radicalisation Programme ‘Prevent‘

Hundreds of very young children have been referred to the UK government’s counter-extremism programme before they’ve even had a chance to start school, the vast majority for “Islamist Extremism” concerns, figures reveal.

388 children of pre-school age were referred to the Prevent deradicalisation programme in the eight years leading to 2024, including 45 babies under one-years-old and 138 aged two or younger. The vast majority of these referrals are for “Islamist Extremism”.

Trump’s trade war is pushing Canada closer to China

It is an image that just a year ago would have seemed unfathomable: the Canadian and Chinese leaders standing side by side, shaking hands and grinning.

Ties between the two countries cratered in 2018 when Canadian police arrested Chinese technology executive Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver on US fraud charges. Days later, Beijing locked up two Canadians, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, on spying charges that Canada slammed as bogus. (Kovrig and Spavor were released nearly three years later after the US dropped the extradition request for Meng).

The diplomatic tussle soured the relationship and engendered a deep mistrust between Ottawa and Beijing. But as President Donald Trump escalates his trade war with one of the US’s closest allies, Canada has looked to a longtime foe for some common ground.

Carney wants this.

The Luxury Electric Vehicle Is in Trouble

Just a few years ago, Ford Motor thought it had a big hit on its hands with the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck.

But as of the end of September, Congress and President Trump eliminated federal tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles, leading to a steep drop in sales, especially for large, pricey models like the Lightning.

Now, the Lightning’s future is in doubt. Ford has stopped making the truck, whose price starts at $55,000 and can rise to more than $85,000 for premium versions with added features, and it won’t say when or whether production will restart.

Zelenskyy fires ministers accused of involvement in bribery scheme as public outrage grows

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has moved to contain growing public outrage in Ukraine over a corruption scandal in the energy sector by firing two ministers who are accused of involvement in a large-scale bribery scheme.

Ukraine’s president said the justice minister Herman Halushchenko and energy minister Svitlana Grynchuk could no longer remain in their jobs. He also called for personal sanctions against his friend and former business partner Timur Mindich, the scheme’s alleged organiser.

Acknowledging popular anger, Zelenskyy said: “There must be maximum integrity in the energy sector, in absolutely all processes. I support every investigation carried out by law enforcement and anti-corruption officials. This is an absolutely clear and consistent position for everyone.”

If Canada is thrust into an election next week, it will be one of the strangest in living memory

If Canada is plunged into an election next week, we can already call it one of the most unwanted campaigns this country has ever seen.

Gord Johns, one of the New Democrat MPs who gets a vote on that matter next week, said it bluntly to the Star this week: “I know certainly Canadians don’t want an election,”

Yet Johns’ own party is looking seriously at getting itself election-ready, as my colleague Mark Ramzy reported. And what the NDP is contemplating would make this not just the most unwanted campaign ever, but also one of the weirdest.
