Michelin star awarded to Mexican taco stand for first time
The prestigious Michelin Guide star was awarded to a 10-foot by 10-foot (3-meter by 3-meter) taqueria in Mexico City.
Tacos El Califa de Leon, in the scruffy-bohemian San Rafael neighborhood, is the first such restaurant to receive the prize from the coveted French dining guide.
It is named after the celebrated Mexican bullfighter Rodolfo Gaona, whose nickname in the ring was “El Califa de Leon.”
Tacos? Actually the cost of getting to Mexico means I’ll never get that chance.

Peru’s government officially classified transgender and intersex people as “mentally ill” on Tuesday. The Telegraph reports that the country’s health ministry said this will allow its public health services to “guarantee full coverage of medical attention for mental health.”
The decree was signed by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and also defines transsexualism, gender identity disorder in children, dual-role transvestitism, and “other gender identity disorders” as mental illnesses, per Pink News. It will officially change the language in the Essential Health Insurance Plan (PEAS) to classify trans and intersex people as having a mental health disorder.

Slovakia’s populist prime minister, Robert Fico, is in a “life-threatening condition” after being injured in a shooting, the Slovak government has said.
Reports on the Slovakian TV channel TA3 said Fico, 59, was hit in the stomach after four shots were fired outside the House of Culture in the town of Handlová, about 90 miles (150km) north-east of the capital.
A suspect had been detained, they added. Police sealed off the scene.
In a message posted to the prime minister’s Facebook account, the government said the leader had been “shot multiple times” and “the next few hours will decide”.
